1929 Model A

There are Model A's and then there are Model A's.

Certainly Henry Ford made enough to go around. For those collectors that covet the Model A's - the bragging rights are always important! The Model A that is in this auction is very unusual because the history is somewhat well known back to 1960s. The current owner purchased this "barn find" in 2008 from the widow of the man who restored it circa the early 1960s. As you can see from the photos the restoration it has held up quite nicely.

From the looks of the window stickers, he man who restored this car appears to have been quite active in all the car clubs such as Model A Restorers Club, ntique Automobile Club of America and the topper is that the owner was availed the opportunity in 1970 to drive around the Indianapolis "500" Speedway - we feel that would be a true distinction for any sports car but how many Model A's can say that they were driven around the Indianapolis racetrack...we think that has a huge impact in the bragging rights department. Also it has a sticker indicating that it was Test driven on the Ford Proving Grounds in 1962!

As you can see the car was restored in a striking green/blue green/black color scheme with yellow pin striping to make the original wheels painted in yellow "pop" . The interior restored in what is believed to be the original style is still in very presentable condition.

When the current owner of this car purchased this Model A from the widow whose husband had restored it in the early 1960s, he car had been sitting in the barn since the 1990s. He tells us that he put in a new battery and fresh gas and it started right up! That is an example of why the Ford Model A was such a hit from Day One and why the Model A's have earned such a great reputation over the years.

As you can see from the photos the current owner of the car has not taken the car out of the garage recently but he tells us that it starts, uns and stops as it should. The seller did not have the opportunity to have the car cleaned/detailed for the photos for this auction but we think the photos represent its vintage look. If you like the way it looks now can you imagine how great it will look when you clean it up?

The private seller has told us the following about this 1929 Model A.

It was purchased around 2008 from the widow whose husband had restored the car probably in the early 1960s. The car had been in that family for over four decades based on the time of the restoration (possibly longer). The stickers on the windows indicate that the man who restored this car was quite active in car clubs and enjoyed driving this car in events.

Of course the engine is a four cylinder with a starter and manual transmission. There is an optional crank feature on the front of the car (no crank).

The seller tells us that the paint, nterior and chrome are all in good shape.

There appears to be an aftermarket turn signal setup because the state mandates that all vehicles regardless of age have turn signals.

There is a gas shut off lever in the cab.

Original spoke wheels look great in yellow accent color!

When the car was restored it was upgraded with a 6-volt alternator.

While the owner has asked us not to disclose his reserve we can say that the reserve is attractively low and in the opinion of MissChiTown, verybody can bid to win on this car as it may be one of the best buys on eBay!
