Description of 1939 Ford Other |
I have a 1939 ford coupe PROJECT up for sale this car has a NON running 409 chevy with a 671 BDS blower. linked to a 400 chevy trans. In the rear it has a ford 9 narrowed with drum brakes on the rear. The front has disc brakes with a GM a-arm suspension and a pretty nice chassis I do not know what kind of chassis it is but it all looks solid and built correctly. I bought this car not running with the intentions of fixing it but I have been deployed overseas and will not have time for the car for a while. I do not want it to go to waste or for all the polished items to oxidize so I have decided to sell it. This car has a lot going for it the paint is pretty nice looks like a tangerine orange with some pearl no dents or rust there is a small paint chip gone on the right quarter behind the door as you can see in the pics. The interior is a very nice grey vinyl with a beautiful wrapped roll bar this was surely a show car at some point it is narrowed and tubbed good tires all around as well as the glass it does have power windows. The engine looks to me like it had water in it the blower is fine no issues spins perfectly no noise and the motor is not blown no rods through the block or lower end damage. I pulled the plugs and it spins but had water in the cylinders. I pulled the pan to see if any rods were bent and no it all looks good. What this car needs is for the engine to be pulled and rebuilt I do know there is some rust built up in the cylinders. from what I can tell the engine was filled with water and not by a blown head or gasket there is a story with this car. I know what I have and I know what it takes to even build a rolling chassis this nice so the reserve I have set is fair. I have considered selling it as a roller and keep the engine but we shall see where this goes. The front grille has some damage and I did buy another one which will go with the car for the reserve price if not I will keep the grille. Again I am a car guy and I know what it takes to get a 39 ford to this point labor and money wise so I am not going to give it away. I have described this car to the best of my ability it has a clear title and will need to be hauled at the new owners expense. I am deployed so for the guys who want to come out and try to drive it away this is not for you. please remember what you see is what you get I do not have a hood for the car. bid based on what you see and the description I have provided this is not a running car its a project. I also ask please bid only if you have the money to complete the purchase at the end of the auction I am not wanting to finance or wait for you to get the money. The car must be paid in full when the auction ends. Don't hesitate to ask questions through the ebay email it may take a little time for me to get back to you keep in mind I am deployed. I will arrange for someone to be at the location to meet the new owner or transport to pick up the car if it sells.
