Description of 1986 Ford E-Series Van LX |
***IMPORTANT!***: PLEASE READ EVERYTHING IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY INTERESTED IN A RARE E-350 VAN, OADED WITH ACCESSORIES, ND WITH THOUSANDS OF RESTORATIVE WORK DONE ALREADY. I PUT THE "BAD" UP FRONT! DESCRIPTION: (OVERVIEW): WE'VE OWNED THIS LOADED, BEAUTIFUL" 1-TON, 86 E-350 "CLUB WAGON" FOR OVER 8 YEARS. THE GENTLEMAN I PURCHASED IT FROM REGISTERED IT FROM '86 - '07 IN SANTEE, A, HICH HAS A DESERT-LIKE CLIMATE (I HAVE HIS OLD REGISTRATION SLIPS). IT HAS ALWAYS BEEN REGISTERED IN INLAND (DRY) SAN DIEGO COUNTY. IT COMES WITHOUT THE REAR SEATS (we used it for briefly moving/hauling; there's over 10 feet behind the front bucket seats now to the rear doors). FOR SOME REASON, HE DRIP RAILS STARTED RUSTING YEARS AGO (COMMON PROBLEM WITH FORDS? DEFINITELY NOT DUE TO ROAD SALT, R SALTY OCEAN AIR!). THE UNDERCARRIAGE IS VERY CLEAN AND RUST-FREE. NO HOLES OR RUST IN THE LOWER ROCKER PANELS OR FENDERS (very clean and perfectly straight). JUST IN THE ROOF (INCLUDING A GAPING ORIFICE NEXT TO THE D/S CORNER OF THE WINDSHIELD - JUST WANT TO DISCLOSE THAT - not pictured). (THE GREAT): INTERIOR HAS A PERFECT LOOKING ORIG. FULL DASH PAD (COVERED WITH 3 LAYERS ON WINDSHIELD, ncluding moving blanket in blue on dash - included! NO CUTS & VERY SUPPLE!) THIS MODEL VAN HAS VIRTUALLY EVERY FACTORY OPTION AVAILABLE IN 1986. IT HAS A REBUILT ENGINE (w/only 26,700 miles), EBUILT TRANSMISSION (w/only 5,554 miles), EAR DIFFERENTIAL (similar low miles) AND STEERING GEAR BOX (w/only 1 mile so far!). THE COST OF THESE REBUILT ITEMS FAR EXCEEDS WHAT I'M ASKING FOR THE VAN. THEN --- I'M INCLUDING WITH THE SALE --- TWO NEW SENDING UNITS/FUEL PUMPS FOR THE TWIN GAS TANKS (cost over $300), ND OTHER NEW PARTS (INCLUDING A NEW P/S PUMP w/reservoir & NEW HOSE & AUTO TRANS FLUID - ATF), ND AN NOS REAR BUMPER (TO COMPLIMENT THE PERFECTLY STRAIGHT FRONT BUMPER). ALSO A NEW OVAL CHROME "FORD" EMBLEM FOR THE GRILLE. THE PARTS JUST NEED INSTALLING. THIS VAN HAS NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT, ND IS STRAIGHT AS AN ARROW (only dent is on old rear bumper; that's why I bought a brand new one to replace it - cost over $350)*. HAS ALL WINDOWS (4 THAT OPEN AT AN ANGLE FOR VENTILATION & LOCK VERY SECURELY), ND THEY ARE ALL TINTED. NEW TIRES INCLUDED*. VERY LUXURIOUS INTERIOR FOR AN E-SERIES VAN (P/W P/LOCKS, RUISE, /C, ILT, tc.) MECHANICALLY, T IS IN EXCELLENT/OUTSTANDING CONDITION FOR 190K MILES. GOOD BRAKES & FRONT END. ALSO COMES WITH A NEW ELECTRIC CHOKE, nbsp;WHICH NEEDS TO BE INSTALLED BEFORE SMOG TEST (will show very low emissions - I have old smog test). EXTENSIVE WORK HAS BEEN DONE TO THE ENGINE (METICULOUS TUNE-UP AND PARTS, NCLUDING WIRES, NORKLE HOSE, ATTERY BY-PASS COUPLER (I installed), EW OIL PSI SWITCH, TC.). COMPRESSION READINGS ARE ALL VERY EVEN (149 - 157 psi**; this is a low-compression 460 engine). INTERIOR: CARPET IS FAIRLY GOOD (just an occasional stain), S IS THE ALL-BLUE-CLOTH (not vinyl) HEADLINER, ELUXE DOOR PANELS, ND STEERING WHEEL (very nice cond.). ALL ELECTRIC WORKS, NCLUDING WINDOWS AND LOCKS. JUST HAD A RBLT POWER STEERING GEAR BOX INSTALLED (still have the orig. one in the box). BRAKES ARE IN GOOD SHAPE. SIDE DOOR HAS BEEN RE-CONDITIONED TO WORK (close) VERY WELL (most times!). VAN HAS A HEAVILY REINFORCED TYPE III REECE RECEIVER-HITCH w/ the SOLID BAR sliding yoke and load-leveling bars/chains. THIS VAN WILL PULL THE LARGEST BOAT OR TRAILER, R EVEN A BUILDING OFF OF ITS FOUNDATION! LOTS OF GUTS, ND VERY, ERY SMOOTH & QUIET (THE HUGE 460 RUMBLES SMOOTHLY AT IDLE, ITH A NICE RESONATING SOUND). VERY GOOD EXHAUST SYSTEM... (THE NOT-SO-GREAT): THE ROOF RAILS HAD RUSTED FROM IMPROPER PAINT PREP (IT WAS REPAINTED IN 2002). THE RUST WAS GROUND DOWN ALL AROUND BY A WORKER I HIRED 2 YRS AGO, UT IT STILL NEEDS WELDING/FILLING. THE FOUR EXT. PANELS/SECTIONS AROUND THE WINDSHIELD COULD STAND REPLACING, S WELL AS THE WINDSHIELD (CRACKED). REAR SEATS REMOVED & DISCARDED/SOLD TO USE AS CARGO VAN (they are gone, orry - please acknowledge this before buying van). BUT WITH THE VERY HEAVY 3 ROWS OF SEATS GONE, HERE IS THAT MUCH MORE WEIGHT CAPACITY FOR LOADING THIS VAN. I WOULDN'T BE SURPRISED IF YOU COULD PUT 4,000 LBS. INSIDE OF THIS, ITH THOSE MONSTER LEAF SPRINGS (AND STILL RIDE LEVEL). REASON FOR SELLING: NOT BEING USED! RECENT DOUBLE HERNIA OPERATION! (can't begin to lift what I used to). HAVE TO SACRIFICE MY BELOVED VAN (the perfect man's vehicle, MO)... LIST OF BRAND NEW PARTS INCLUDED WITH PURCHASE: 1) N.O.S. REAR BUMPER (perfect, tunning chrome. A "10/10" in condition, hat has been cleaned/polished, nd put back in orig. brown paper Ford packaging); 2) NEW OVAL GRILLE "FORD" BADGE/EMBLEM (not pictured, ut new in FoMoCo box); 3) NEW FUEL PUMPS w/ SENDING UNITS (one for each gas tank - cost over $300); REBUILT P/S PUMP w/reservoir (about $100); EDELMAN P/S HOSE (high psi side); (9) QTS OF TYPE "F" ATF (for P/S flush/fill) & NEW OIL FILTER; (1) NEW FOMOCO THERMOSTATIC CHOKE FOR CARBURETOR; misc small parts... FACTORY OPTIONS: ELECTRIC WINDOWS ON FRONT DOORS (work good - one is a tad slow); A/C (WORKED IN 2007-08, HEN I LAST USED REGULARLY; can't be sure now!); TILT WHEEL (YES, ND IT WORKS GREAT!); CRUISE/CONTROL (worked when I was moving thru late '08); P/LOCKS; SONY AM/FM/CASSETTE (upgrade); NICE BLUE CLOTH INTERIOR AND DELUXE DOOR/INTEROIR PANELS, RETTY GOOD HEADLINER (just needs 1 seam sown), OCKING TILT OUT LONG WINDOWS FOR VENTILATION ON SIDES AND REAR DOORS (very expensive option for vans). ALL SIDE/REAR WINDOWS HAVE BEEN PROFESSIONALLY TINTED. ALSO ------- THIS VAN COMES WITH EXPENSIVE LOAD LEVELING APPARATUS FOR TOWING. ALL JACK HARDWARE IS THERE (INCLUDING HUGE TIRE IRON FOR ORIG. OVERSIZED LUG NUTS). THIS IS A VERY SERIOUS TOW VEHICLE! * WITH BUY-IT-NOW PRICE. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE THAT THE SPORTY MAGS THAT GO WITH THESE NEW TIRES (SIZE LT265/75R-16 with 1mile on them) RUB ON THE CALIPERS (or something - I felt a scraping/rubbing noise down there when driving it around the block). IF THAT IS THE CASE, STILL HAVE THE ORIG. WHEELS WITH MICHELIN TIRES (over 2/3rds tread left; only on a vehicle 2 years, nd currently stored indoors) TO REPLACE THEM (8 TIRES TOTAL IN THAT SIZE; THE BETTER ONES ARE STORED INDOORS - NOT MTD. YET). THE ORIG. TIRE SIZE ON THE ORIG. HEAVY DUTY WHEELS AND MASSIVE LUG NUTS IS 235/80R-16 (taller, nd slightly narrower). BOTH THE NEW AND USED TIRES HAVE BEEN METICULOUSLY COATED INSIDE AND OUT WITH STP, 03 AND/OR NEW FORMULA ARMORALL, FTER BEING CLEANED. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS IF THIS ISSUE IS CONFUSING (I'M VERY SYMPATHETIC)! CALL 619-442-2800, F YOU'D LIKE TO MAKE THINGS EASIER FOR BOTH OF US (please leave a message if I can't get to the phone. Call anytime)! * I did notice that there are some very small dings on or near the side doors. Nothing major. Please blow up the photos. If you are concerned about that, 'll take some close-up photos. There is one modest "crease" downstream from the doors on the side of the van (i.e., oward the rear of van). Van was never used for work, ust moving. It was never abused, nd even repainted in 2002. ** #4 cyl. is about 174 psi. Could be due to a little carbon built up on top of piston, ue to old choke that didn't open fully. Engine runs exceedingly smooth and quiet (very still, ith a throaty rumble). I have a brand new Motorcraft choke that comes with the vehicle. SUMMARY: ALTHOUGH THERE IS A LOT OF WELDING TO DO ON/AROUND THE ROOF RAILS (remember the top of roof is pretty straight, nd has no holes), ND THE NEW OWNER NEEDS TO REPLACE THE SENDING UNITS IN GAS TANKS (and the P/S pump), HIS IS A GREAT VAN THAT HAS HAD MANY THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF WORK DONE (incl. over $3,000 rebuilding the engine). THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED DURING A HAIL STORM QUITE A WHILE AGO, UT I HAVEN'T FILED AN INSURANCE CLAIM FOR IT (very behind). IT HAS A LUXURIOUS, IGHT FEEL BEHIND THE WHEEL. IT WILL SERVE YOU WELL FOR MOVING/HAULING/TOWING FOR MANY YEARS. JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING ELSE HAS BEEN DONE TO THE VAN, ND I'M ASKING $1,000s LESS THAN THE RECENT WORK/PARTS THROWN IN! AND, HEN THERE'S BEST OFFER - IF NO ONE GRABS THE B-I-N PRICE! VAN IS IN NON-OPERATIONAL STATUS AT PRESENT (NO back CA registration fees). "SMOG" YEARS WOULD BE ON ODD YEARS IN DECEMBER (i.e., OW!), O YOU WOULDN'T WASTE DOING IT AGAIN VERY SOON. |
