Description of 1977 Ford F-250 |
I bought this truck from a local rancher but I never used it. Motor, transmission brakes, steering, suspension all work fine. No shifting problems. Five new tires are on original 16.5 inch wheels. I had this truck going 85 mph on the freeway and it was stable with no pulling to left or right. The rancher replaced the original engine. The engine starts right up and purrs like a kitten, very smooth, no knocks or problems. This is a typical California rust free truck, there is very little rust anywhere except the roof and I painted primer on that. There is a small dent on left rear and no dents on the right side. There are some small dents to the chrome around the grill and the plastic grill parts around the headlights is cracked. I priced replacements online for $40. each. Wiring connections need to be cleaned up for headlights. Windows need new fittings but crank up and down okay. I recovered the seat with black leather. Two fuel tanks both work. No tailgate but has trailer hitch. Hood latch works, I use a screwdriver to spring it open with a twist. I've kept this truck alive and working for the next owner to continue the restoration. By the way, ebay listed some truck transport quotes of about $1100. California to Tennessee. After 1977.5, the F-250 was revised with a new frame, suspension, and drivetrain that lowered new F-250s. So from that point on, the older F-250s were known as Highboys and the new trucks that sat 2 inches lower were Lowboys. Ford's 360 V-8 is paired to a granny low NP 435 4-speed manual. It might seem odd that a heavy-duty pickup truck from the 1970s could begin to interest truck collectors, but the cool stance, durability, and lore of these Ford Trucks make restored or low-mile examples very desirable. |
