Description of 1954 Ford Other Pickups F500

I am selling my 1954 F500 Dump Truck. This ad will highlight everything about the truck. I work my hardest to under promise and over deliver. I have never had anyone angry with anything I have sold. Please read the description and look at the highly detailed pictures. You as the purchaser will be pleased.

This truck is running, driving and stopping. It has a very low millage 57 Ford 312 long block. The intake is a 59 2 barrel which in a big truck really compliments the potent 312. The 312 is identified through castings and also during inspection of the engine I removed the oil pan, you can see the 312 specific end caps. It is from a 57 passenger care.

I will break down each area of the truck below.

Engine:

The 312 long block is in very nice shape. I always do a very on point inspection of all components. I removed the oil pan to find no sludge. The bottom of the block looks absolutely stunning. Each cylinder wall looks perfect, no scratches and you can still see honing marks. Each cylinder was as follows #1: 153psi #2: #3: 152psi 153psi #4: 151psi #5: 154psi #6: 153psi #7: 151psi #8: 152psi. Each cylinder had great compression withalmost novariation cylinder to cylinder. Oil pressure is amazing on this engine. 75#. When hot it never dips below 50#. Beyond passing for a Y block!

The top end looked great as well. The valve train has great oil, all valves are adjusted and the engine is very quiet.

The truck is now 12 volts – 1 wire alternator, lights and windshield wipers work very well. All electronics are 12v.

A Holley 2 barrel is tuned perfectly on the engine, a tap of the key and the 312 fires right up and idles smooth. Even in 10* weather there is no stalling upon start up. One of the healthiest Y blocks I have had.

Performance comes from not only the higher compression, bigger valve 312 and Holley but also from a brand new recurved distributor. I have internal centrifugal timing set in the 13L slot which is 26*. With an initial of 12* 38 total is right where these y blocks like to be! Full timing comes in at 2800 RPM. The engine has Brad Penn high Zinc 10/30 oil.

Fuel tank has been restored and can handle todays fuel.

Trans:

Shifts perfectly. Up shift and down shift is great! No whining at all. A 4 forward gears are great along with reverse.

The clutch is GREAT! It has minimal miles on it.

Rear End:

Fresh differential oil. All bearings look great and they are repacked with fresh grease.

Brakes:

New rear wheel cylinders, all linings have only a few 100 miles on them. Replaced one brake line that needed replaced.

Body:

Very solid for its age and the fact it’s a big truck. There is a little spotting here and there but look close at the pictures. Floors are great. Some stuff on the bottoms of the doors but nothing horrible. I have seen 2009 trucks that have worst rust. I keep the truck in side which helps.

All the windows wind up and down as they should. Only the cigarette glass has small fractures. Side, rear and windshield are crack free!

The doors and hood open and close nice for a 54 F500.

Chassis:

The frame on this truck is great! It is solid, no rot, no rust issues, it looks better than many newer trucks I have seen. Damn near perfect!

Suspension:

The steering is very tight. All bushings and joints look great - every grease fitting has always been filled. All of the springs are in great shape with no cracks.

Dump:

HUGE hydraulic cylinder provides major dumping power. The PTO works great. Fresh fluid has been added. The dump works great. At the beginning of each year it can be slow to come down but after a few uses it comes down with no problem.

Dump wood has been stained a very dark color, looks great.

This truck has a very desirable patina look to it. In order to drive as a daily driver or put it to work hauling you would need new tires. I can source new tires and tubes for a great price. The tires on it are dry. The truck is very powerful and does what it needs to do. Due to dry tires I would have it towed.

Interior:

Dash lights work, heat works, windows work, the seat is firm with a new cover. The speedo cluster glass has no cracks and is not foggy.

New parts:

Recurved distributor

Battery

4 rear wheel cylinders

Muffler

Valve Covers
