This is a 1965 - K car - 4 speed with a black interior that was refurbished by the previous owner as a daily driver. It was purchased from his wife due to his passing. It was originally a Medium gray metallic with a black interior. The vehicles current color is Red. The drive train in this vehicle I do not believe is original because I can not find the vin number stamped in the block - however it does have the Hipo heads (both are #20), exhaust manifolds, large damper, solid lifter cam, dual point distributor and a manual choke 4100 carburetor. I did not pull the pan so I do not know if it has the large main caps or the 3/8" rod bolts. It also has a early toploader 4 speed with a ford shifter, a cast iron bell housing with an 11" clutch and a 9" differential with pinion flange bracket and has narrowed down axle tubes. For some reason unknown to me the pervious owner put a 3 speed shifter handle on the 4 speed shifter and although it does not have the reverse lock out the handle works find. The shift pattern for reverse is over and back so you would never put it reverse and think you were in first. The radio is in the dash but does not work very well.It looks like the vehicles floors, trunk floors, door skins, rear quarter panels and wheel wells have been changed. The lower portion of the doors look in good shape. The passenger side front fender looks original because it has a date stamp, the drivers side must be a repo. I also see that the cowl has had both ends of lower section replaced. The front frame rails look good, the rears had the rear sections replaced. The lower portion of the vehicle has been cleaned and painted, including the suspension. It looks like the original style pinion rebound plate is still in place and the brackets in the frame rail for the dual exhaust brackets are also there, as well as the reinforcement plates in the rear floor for the dual exhaust. The front seats upholstery, carpet and headliner look like they were replaced, the rear seats are OK. The dash is original and needs to be replaced. The vehicle has the original dash cluster and glove book door. |
The body is straight and the seams are decent. The paint has a fair amount of orange peel and need a good detailing. I would consider the paint job as a 7 out 10 - although I am not a body man. It is a very nice 5 footer. The bumpers, outside door handles, and rear fender omaments are new, as well as the door and window seals and scuff plates. The glass has no cracks although there are very minor scratches. The front windshield molding is not attached very well and is dented. The front suspension seem tight and has the 13/16" sway bar used in the heavy duty suspension. The front and rear drum brakes were replaced and it looks like the brake and fuel lines have been replace, as well as the rear emergency brake cables. The fuel tank and sending unit and the dual exhaust are also new. The rear springs were replaced as well as the shocks. The tires are all have better than 1/2 there life on them - fronts are P195/70 - 14 and the rears are P225/70-14. This vehicle is a nice driver - it is the kind of vehicle you can drive and enjoy or take to a local cruise night. Its runs and drives and needs a little tender loving care.
