Let's just cut to the chase: This 1969 Mustang Mach 1 carries a period correct 1969 428 Cobra Jet engine, 4-speed transmission, and the owner has treated it to a six-figure full rotisserie restoration. While not exactly cheap, this car represents an A-list Mustang at a realistic price that's still a fraction of its big block Shelby and Boss siblings. Restored in basic black, this car was stripped to a bare shell and rebuilt from there with the intention of restoring it to a level worthy of its specifications. The 1969 sportsroof is arguably the best-looking Mustang of all, ideally capturing the classic Mustang look and adding a healthy dose of aggression, complete with blacked-out hood and optional rear window slats. Fit and finish are superb, completely show-worthy and ready to collect trophies or hit the street. No cut corners, no shoddy patches, just an authentic Mustang restored to a level befitting its stature as one of the heavy hitters of the period. Gaps are excellent, the chrome sparkles, the decals are exact, and the black paint has a simply impossibly nice shine. It does have a blackout hood treatment, the Mach 1 stripes along the flanks, and a few bright pieces of trim, all of which make this car look predatory yet totally correct. Just imagine prowling the streets of 1969 in this animal!Inside it has a brand new black bucket seat interior, 100% stock without so much as a column-mounted tach to cost you points at the next MCA show. If you can touch it, it's new, including the door panels, carpets, dash pad, and headliner, all of which are exactly right and installed by experts. This car was upgraded to the luxury dcor group, and the Mach 1 came with a semi-luxury attitude, so the woodgrained appliques are bright and crisp, the gauges are sharp, and the woodgrained steering wheel is fully restored. It carries a later AM/FM/cassette radio just ahead of the Hurst 4-speed shifter, and I'd be surprised if anyone has used the passenger or rear seats since the restoration was completed. Even the embroidered floor mats are in excellent shape and the trunk offers a correct mat, full-sized spare, and reproduction decals for show purposes.Legendary doesn't even begin to describe the 428 Cobra Jet under the hood. Conservatively rated at 335 horsepower, we all know it was about 65 more than that even on a bad day. But perhaps more importantly, this one is 100% stock and completely restored for show. That means exacting details, from the air cleaner to the hose clamps, and with the breadth of Mustang knowledge out there, you know the markings and other little stuff is right. It starts and runs beautifully, the clutch is light, and with 3.50 gears on an Equa-Lok limited slip, it's quite a handful on the street. Underneath, it's beautifully finished with satin black floors, a great-sounding Flowmaster exhaust system, and plenty of those factory-style assembly marks that make it look highly detailed. The only possible demerits are the modern Goodyear radials instead of the original bias-plys, but they do look great on brilliant chrome Magnum 500 wheels. With a recent Marti Report and other documentation, this incredible Mustang is a must see.
