Description of 1946 Ford Coupe

Big post-war cars like this 1946 Ford club coupe are known as "fat fenders" for obvious reasons. Also obvious is that chopping the top and shaving some trim totally transforms the formerly frumpy Ford into something remarkable. With 351 power, a gorgeous interior, and plenty of creature comforts, this is a car that you can take anywhere, anytime. It's not going to go unnoticed when you roll in with this gorgeous Ford, but owning a hot rod is all about attention, right? The Ford is still instantly recognizable from any angle, but the chopped top does wonders for its personality, transforming it into a low, sleek machine whose proportions are, if anything, even better than they were stock. The workmanship is quite well done and there are no scars from the surgery; even the quarter windows look properly proportioned. At the same time, a lot of the bright trim was shaved, including the bumpers, door handles, and side moldings, all of which lets the sparkling flame job do all the talking. The House of Kolor Tango Pearl finish is deep and lustrous with enough pearl in the finish to make the flames come and go as you walk around the car in the sunlight. Up front, the original grille was integrated into the bodywork and painted to match, and it's framed by a set of crystal clear headlights frenched into the fenders. A Vee'd windshield, custom side mirrors, and a custom rear roll pan continue the smoothie look. With just a few signs of use, this car is still going to stop them in their tracks at the next cruise night.A beautiful tan leather interior provides a comfortable, functional place to spend some time. Not a home-made exercise, but professionally stitched using late-model buckets that have been resculpted to work in the chopped coupe. A custom center console was fabbed up and includes the shifter for the 3-speed automatic transmission, as well as an armrest and a spot for the AM/FM/CD/iPod stereo head unit. A complete set of Auto Meter gauges were each nestled into their own custom pod in the dash, including a clock over there on the passenger's side, adding a vintage feel. A billet wheel, a full sized back seat, and cold Vintage Air A/C only add to the driving comfort of this cool coupe. There's also a substantial trunk which includes more entertainment equipment, including a flat-screen TV and DVD system with speakers. Imagine hanging out by this car at the next show! This is a Ford with Ford power thanks to a 351 Cleveland V8. The whole front end tilts forward to give unparalleled access, a rather cool trick, and the rumbling V8 looks great tucked into the nose like that. There's a Holley carburetor on an Edelbrock intake manifold, giving it plenty of power to feel energetic on the street. You'll also notice plenty of chrome and shiny polished aluminum, including the radiator shroud and custom serpentine belt drive system. A front subframe with independent suspension, power steering, and disc brakes means this vintage Ford feels quite contemporary on the road and doesn't beat you up despite the lowered stance. A C6 3-speed automatic transmission feeds what appears to be a Ford 8.8-inch rear end, complete with trailing arm suspension. The dual exhaust rumbles and burbles like a hot rod should, and includes cut-outs if you really want to make a statement. You'll also note there are disc brakes in back, hiding behind handsome billet 5-spoke wheels.Beautifully built, fully sorted, and amazing from any angle, this car looks like it should cost twice as much as it does.
