Description of 1940 Ford Other F-8

This truck was purchased 8 years ago from a vendor in Canada and a complete frame-up restoration began immediately. The vehicle was finished in 2009 and has been maintained in a garage. It is located in Phoenix and is rust free. Because of the severely limited foot space, the original transmission was removed and an automatic installed in its place. The shifter was able to be located in the same place, with no alterations,as the original. The original manual transmission and shifter are included. The clutch pedal is still present; it has been pinned to the horizontal brake pedal shaft so that both pedals can be used for braking. It has right side steering. The electrical system was converted to 12 volts. Turn signals have also been added to make the truck street-legal.It has 5 new tires which were manufactured by MRF of India, one of three companies in the world that manufacture the size, 9 x 13. It arrived without an engine and because it was originally powered in 1940 by a 100 hp Ford engine as manufactured by Ford of Canada, one not being available, a100 hp 1946 Mercury engine was installed.A fan shroud was installed to aid in cooling the engine. The vehicle comes with side curtains made in the same fashion as the originals and has a canvas top for the cargo area. This Ford was one of approximately 5,000 manufactured for one year beginning in 1940. The owner has attempted to find like vehicles here in the US and has been unable to find another Ford, F-8, in operational condition. It has been a steady trophy winner, including First Place at the "Wheels of Britain" show here in Phoenix in 2013.

(Note: The insignia shown on the truckis that of the Queen's Own Rifles of Toronto and are magnetic and can be easily removed.)
