This is a1954 Ford Skyliner with the ultra rare clear plexiglass hood insert. This hood was never to be released to the public, but a few did survive. I have heard estimates for these survivor hoods as low a 11 to a high of 20, but no one knows not even Ford Motor Company.I am selling this car due to health conditions. I do not want to leave my wife aloneand haveher haveto sell it on her ownThe car is frame on restoration done about 20 years ago. This is an automatic transmission with standard steering and brakes. It is powered by a 292 which like almost all y-blocks does leak oil.The electrical system is new and has been converted to 12 volt. All the lights andbulbs have been changed, but the dash instruments still need to be updated to 12 volts. There isa keyed on/off master electrical switch installed inside the car.I have also installed a new fuel tank, fuel pump and 4 barrel carb.I am fairly certain that the timing chain has either stretched or jumped a tooth. A new chain goes with the car. I am no longer able to do this type of repair work. The body is showing some signs of an old restoration with some bubbling in the paint along the rocker panel and passenger doorThe speedometer cable broke the last time I had it on the road and it will need to be replaced. I should have lubed it before taking it out of storage and out on the roadThe car drives great and is a lot of fun. It does not matter where you go people are always amazed by this machine. I have hadpeople flag me down while driving so they could see it.The car hasspentlast ten years in storage or on display at the Gilmore Car Museum and at the Kalamazoo Air museumTires are Cooker radials with wide whitewallsand about 500 miles on themThe trim inserts where the roof meets the body (rear pillar)are custom made exact duplicate of the original plastic one (this is reffered to as the "waffle pattern"). No one was making repops of this part. Also included are the 2 required originalFord Mechanics Shop manuals, for both 1953 and 1954.
