1966 Ford Mustang Convertible Description 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible Same owner for 33 years! Rebuilt 289 cid Ford V-8 engine w/two-bbl. carburetor Rebuilt C4 three-speed automatic transmission Less than 500 miles on engine, transmission and tires since rebuild Brittany Blue (1967 Ford Mustang color) exterior with white, power top Blue and parchment interior Power steering and power brakes (converted to power assist in May 2016) Trunk-mounted luggage rack New Mustang Rally Wheels and new Michelin X Radial Plus tires Copy of original Missouri title from 1983MotoeXotica Classic Cars is pleased to present yet another head-turning and classic 1966 Ford Mustang Convertible that has been with the same fastidious owner for the last 33 years! This blue Mustang, assembled in Ford’s Dearborn, Michigan factory on December 9, 1966, was originally ordered for delivery to the Kansas City, Missouri area. Included with the purchase is a binder of documentation and receipts kept by the previous owner, a Mr. Lefler of St. Louis County, Missouri, who bought the car in 1983. He kept the car garaged for the last 33 years. Lefler had restoration and body work done to the car in 1987 and 1988, including weather stripping, seat bottoms, dash pad, windshield, carpeting and all upholstery and he had it repainted Brittany Blue, a 1967 Mustang color. In May of 2002, he had Rhodes Engines in Bridgeton, Missouri, install a rebuilt 289 V-8 engine, a new distributor, power steering belt and thermostat. Lefler didn’t omit the transmission from the rebuild treatment, he had Performance Motors handle that task and Lefler spent $1,000 to replace the wheels and tires. In May 2015, he had the fuel tank flushed, a new sending unit and a fuel filter installed. Six months later, he had the left rear wheel bearing replaced. In May of this year, he had the brake master cylinder replaced and the brakes converted to power assist. Declining health forced Lefler to sell the car. Finished in Brittany Blue, the paint shows well but does show minor imperfections under close inspection. All trim pieces are present and have good finishes. The headlights and taillights are in very good condition. The new white manual top only has very minor blemishes upon close inspection and is in overall great shape but the horn is inoperable. There’s even a luggage rack mounted atop the trunk lid for extra cargo. Inside, the blue and parchment vinyl bucket seats are in very good shape over the new carpet. During the late 1980s, Lefler had the following items replaced – new wooden steering wheel, new seat bottoms, new upholstery, floor underlayment, console, radio, windshield, Crown Convertible Top and trim pieces. He also ordered new front and rear floor pans, convertible side rails, the left front fender, the right rear quarter panel, the top trunk cross piece, the car’s body was completely stripped, primed and repainted and new weather stripping was added around windows, doors and trunk. The convertible’s rear window is still transparent, testimony that the car really was garaged for at least 25 years. The car has a Clarion 4750R AM/FM stereo with cassette player mounted in the dash. Overall, the wood steering wheel, the matching door panels and new dashboard are go perfectly with the rest of the car’s interior and look fantastic. This nicely presented Mustang features a rebuilt 289 V-8 engine with a two-barrel carburetor buttoned to rebuild of Ford’s C4 three-speed automatic transmission. There are new Mustang Rally Wheels with black center caps mounted within Michelin X Radial Plus tires. The 1964 introduction of the Mustang created a new class of automobile known as the pony car. The Mustang’s styling, with its long hood and short deck, proved wildly popular and inspired a host of imitators. Initially introduced as a hardtop and convertible, a fastback version went on sale the following year. Over the years, it has become the favorite subject of many custom car builders and racers. Feeling blue? A ride in this blue and white time capsule would definitely put a smile on most anyone’s face. This car would make a great day trip vehicle or something to head to the vineyards in for a wine tasting. GET OUT AND DRIVE!!! Current mileage on the odometer shows 46,738 miles, which is understood to be 146,738 original miles. It is sold as is where is on a clean and clear title.
