1971 Ford Mustang Mach 1351 Windsor, C-4 automatic No Rust The car runs & drives good. The body is really solid from top to bottom. From what I know it was a restoration project that just got drug out for years and never fully completed. The guy I bought it from was in the process of finishing up where someone else had left off. After piddling on it for a few years & never getting it on the road, he lost interest & sold it to me. While being shuffled around from one garage to another the front left fender got dented up and some other little dings here & there got put in it. I bought it with the intent of finishing up all the loose ends. The first thing I did was send it to a mechanic with a long list of odds & ends to finish on it. He wasn't able to finish hooking up the emergency brake b/c the cables from the drums to the pedal are missing & he didn't know where to order them from. He wasn't able to install the fan shroud b/c the one I had laying around was the wrong size & he didn't know where to get a new one from. He wasn't able to hook up the neutral safety switch b/c the car was originally a stick shift and the wiringharnessdoesn'thave a place to plug in for the neutral safety switch. He was able to hook up the side marker lamps & install a new head lamp switch,after-whichhis helper backed the car into the fork lift putting a nice big gash into the right rear quarter panel. He's paying to have it fixed & it's going into the shop next week, but as I explained to him... it's only original once. I liked this car b/c it was 100% rust free & never had any patch work. I can replace a fender or a hood, but once you weld in a new patch panel, it's just not the same. I made sure he was aware of myfrustration &disappointment, buthe just didn't understand where I was coming from when I said "it's only original once" I can get an original 71 fender, or an original 71 Mach 1 hood & bolt it on, but patching the rear quarter is just adifferentthing & car collectors that pay top dollar know this. This whole ordeal has blown the wind out of my sale. I don't even want to proceed with restoring the car. It seems jinxed from the start. I'm going to move it along to the next person and focus my attention on some other projects I have. The things mentioned above, that my mechanic didn't fix are the only items that still need fixing to be a better driver. Aside from that it's mechanically sound. From what I was told, the motor & transmission were rebuilt years ago but the car has never been on the road, soasidefrom test drives around the block it's not even been broken in yet. It does need a headliner installed. Someone before me, attempted a DIY install and cut it too short. I have a new headliner in the box that will come w/ the sale of the car. I also have new sun visors & the trim for the rear window. The interior looks surprisingly well. The carpet & seats are like new. It has an 8-tack player but no speakers. The interior plastics have some scratches on them.To sum it all up... the car is a driver quality classic .. a 20 footer you might say, but since it's so solid & it's a real Mach 1, it's potential iscertainlythere. You could drive it as is for now & restore it later.I have a low reserve, so please only bid if you seriously want to buy the car.Call me if you have any questions 252-619-8067 Dixie Trading CompanyNC Dealer # 00758576592 Caratoke Hwy,Grandy NC 27939NC road tax, title & tag fees apply to NC buyers.
