Description of 1936 Ford Other |
1936 FORD V - 8 DELUXE PHEATON Of the nearly 800,000 Fordsproduced in 1936, just 5,555 were DeluxePhaetons This California carreceived a complete nut and bolt frame off restoration in 1978. After living for a time in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, this car moved to Oregon where it lived for for 30 years in several collections.I purchased the vehicle in May of 2013 adding it to my collection in Texas. The meticulous quality of therestoration is still evident today. The Washington Blue paint is excellent with a deep shine. This is a highly optioned automobile, with Ford radio, wind wings (with correct Ford script), rear view mirror with clock, dual windshield wipers, rear-mountedspare tire, trunk rack and Ford script double-sided white wall tires with rare Spider hub caps and beauty rings. The upholstery is correct and in excellent condition. Chrome and trim are also excellent. The period correct side curtains are behind the rear seat and look like theyhave never been installed on the vehicle. Mechanically, this car runs great. In its heated covered storage (California Car Coverincluded) it has been started and driven monthly for three years. Since owning it a new battery, fuel pump and coil have been installed. All period correct. The car is a pleasure to drive, moves quickly up to highway speed, no shimmy, shake or pulling of any kind. Stillequipped with mechanical brakes, they stop straight and true. I would rate the car a solid 2 +++. Touted as a National 1st Place winner when I purchased it at auction, aside from thenarrativeaccompanying the vehicle, I do not have the paperwork to support it. From my perspective, it is a factory correctautomobile, which could easily bebroughtto Number 1 standards with a little attention. Today, the car shows wonderfully, with just 910 miles on the odometer since restoration. Since owing the automobile, it has been driven just 110 gentle miles. It has been serviced, is ready for touring and withsome light cosmetic detailing can return to the highpoint show circuit. If your are looking for a pre war Ford V8, with adesirable low-production body style that can be enjoyed for years, this is the one. |
