Description of 1964 Ford Mustang |
1964 Ford Mustang – Original black plate California car in GT livery. I am listing this 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang for an overseas (UK) friend who had me buy this for a customer who did not see it through. The car was found in the (dry) Riverside area with a father who purchased it for his kid to drive as soon as he got old enough. As the story goes this was about 10 years ago now. The dad fully restored the car including engine. transmission. suspension. brakes. chrome. paint and interior and when it was all said and done the kid didn’t want the car. He thought a lowered Honda Civic was the cooler car! So. the car sat in their house for about 9 years until my UK friend bought it. There were some problems with the title so I had to put it in my name to keep the nice black plates. I am a very busy guy and a few weeks ago my UK friend decided because it is winter in the UK it would be best to sell the car here. Which I am doing now. The car comes with a clean California Title and current non-op status with the California DMV. Here are the specs of the car as far as I know: The car is a 1964 ½ Ford Mustang coupe which came originally with the 260 V8 and a C4 automatic transmission. It was delivered in Wimbledon White (M) with a back interior (86) and obviously that has been changed at the restoration. The paint is now a dark blue metallic with a purple shine to it. We had to touch up a few flaws in the paint after it sat so long. now the paint is very good and the car shows awesome. The interior was fully renewed in Pony style upholstery and comes with many additions like the (very nice) console and digital (Mustang) radio for which the dash did not need any cutting. The carpet is sun faded but the dash. headliner and side panels are like new. The data plate is original and got polished. it conforms to the specs of the car. The stamped VIN in the inner fender is very nice and matching. The door jambs were done nicely. all weatherstripping and seals were replaced and are still in very good condition. The glass is tinted and works very well. it has nice fog lamps and matching seat belts. All chrome got replaced or redone and is in close to perfect condition except for the bumperettes which for some reason show surface rust. (I have no time to spend on this car so I have left these as they were). Of course it has the wanted GT version grille and rear valance. all is in very nice condition. I do not have the Marti report so I have no clue if this is a real GT. I assume not but if you’re interested enough you can call Mr. Marti for this. Look how awesome straight the sides of this car are! The engine runs perfect and is nicely upgraded with billet and chrome peripherals. It has a chrome Edelbrock intake and 4BBL carburetor installed. the air cleaner is a billet triangular Edelbrock one. There is an original cast iron intake still with the car. maybe the original one. The engine runs very nice and strong. the transmission shifts perfect. I replaced the oil. filters and belts and it should be ready to go. As you can clearly tell I did not use any high pressure cleaner to "sell" this car. it is up to the new owner to detail this car to the hilt. |
