Description of 1965 Ford Mustang K Code

Up for sale is my 1965 K code fastback mustang. I have owned this car for 18 years and completed the rotisserie restoration of it about 7 years ago. Original mileage is unknown; it has about 1200 miles since the restoration. It is an original K code, I found the build sheet behind the passenger door panel on teardown. The engine is an original K motor but not original to this car. It has a different VIN stamped on the motor. The rest of the drivetrain is original, and all completely rebuilt. The engine was rebuilt to original specs ( it is an .030 overbore) with the exception of roller rockers, tri y headers and a shelby intake. The carburetor is an original 4100 from pony carbs. The top loader 4 speed was also completely rebuilt and installed with a new hurst shifter. The rear end was built by Currie with a tru-trac posi and 31 spline axles. Rear disc brakes from SSBC were also added, as were shelby override traction bars and an aluminum driveshaft. The rear stance of the car was lowered an inch by changing the rear springs. The rear end ratio is 4:11 although the build sheet codes out a 3:50 ratio. Not sure how that happened, it got past me somehow during the restoration. The front end was also lowered an inch by changing the springs. The "Shelby Drop" was also accomplished on the from end, really makes the car handle. The interior is the deluxe pony interior, all new. All gauges are new and the ammeter has been modified to be a voltmeter by auto instruments. Due to my height, I had the seat pans lowered about an inch during the rest, sits really well now. I also had installed electric power steering as the car was almost not drivable without any power assist. Its a beautiful thing, no hydraulic pumps or hoses, runs directly off of the battery. I also installed a tilt column from Ididit. Works great but now the original K rally pac doesn't fit. Still looking at that, but bottom line is thats a trade I'll take. OK, so now for the bad things about the car: I have never been able to get the parking brake to work. Might be the cable isn't pulling far enough or it could be something internal isn't locking. SSBC told me to pull the rear discs and send them to be checked out, haven't done it yet. It has a drivers side remote mirror, but the position of the lever is only loosely related to the position of the mirror. And the window cranks are stiff, very common in early mustangs but still irritating. So thats the story, just wanted to give as accurate a description as i can. It's a great car and a real head turner. And all you mustang guys know how rare these cars are, especially with the build sheet included. Any questions you can call me at 615-579-5375. Thanks.
