Description of 1965 Ford Mustang SUPERCHARGED TURBO

I’m selling my hotrod 1965 Mustang. It’s fully restored and highly modified – one of handful cars ever built by a specialty shop in San Diego. Ground up restoration, everything new. Stunning car with massive power and impeccable detail. Turn key condition.

Started out as Southern California car, sold new in San Diego area. 3 owners between 1965-1972 and 1972-2013 and 2013-2016. Well preserved body was perfected over the course of many weeks and every panel was addressed to achieve better-than-factory fitment. Painted gunmetal grey with ghost stripes under clear coat, sanded and buffed to perfection. The final bill exceeded $15k and included complete disassembly, prep and body work, paint and reassembly. The best to describe is ‘better-than-factory”. High end job. Superb body work and stunning paint surface. Show car quality with impeccable detail.

ENGINE BAY: The original 289 V-8 engine was re-built and up-graded by famed Ed Hale engine shop near San Diego. He was a well know race car driver and his shop went over the entire engine and built it for performance and drivability. Upgrades under the hood include forged rotating assembly, balanced and blueprinted, product heads, 2.02/1.60 valves and roller rockers, Shelby valve covers, single plane modified intake to clear stock hood, modified carb for blow thru with Extreme Velocity carb hat, MSD ignition, custom fitted radiator w/23inch core. The car was sent to CPR Street Machine shop which, at the time, specialized in turbo kits for classic Mustangs. This car is one of 5 ever built, and the only 65 model. They have built 1966, 1967 and two 1969 before moving on to building 1000hp modern mustangs. The kit included large-size T70mm turbo, custom forward facing headers, Tial blow off valve and JGS 40mm waste gate with 3 inch exhaust, 3 inch down pipe done, modified gas tank with a sump and sending unit with boost regulator, AN feed and return lines for A1000 Fuel Pump mounted in the back. The battery was relocated to the trunk and sits in a custom billet housing.

SUSPENSION: Custom made powder-coated wheels – 18s upfront and 20s in the back with brand new tires. A great deal of work done to keep the tires and wheels inside the original wheel wells. The entire car was stiffened to eliminate body roll. The suspension package was also re-built and updated including Shelby upper control arms, 620 lowering springs, 1 ½ sway bar in the front and 3/4 inch sway bar in the rear, 5 leaf reverse eye springs with Caltrac traction bars and subframe connectors from Global West Suspension. Car has very little flex, yet still remains very comfortable. Line lock was added on the front brakes which are huge 13 inch Cobra with cross drilled rotors and 12 inch in back. All new stainless steel lines front and rear. The car drives smooth without any body roll and the stopping power matches the added power under the hood. The setup works flawlessly under all RPMs. You can drive it and not go to boost or hammer it in every gear and it pushes +/- 12lb of boost. The turbo screams so beautifully, it’s sensational. Exhilarating acceleration. SUPER RARE.

TRANSMISSION/DRIVETRAIN: A great deal of planning was put into the engine and drivetrain mods to ensure there is not a weak link anywhere in the drivetrain. The car is fitted with rebuilt close ratio Toploader 4 speed transmission with Lakewood bellhousing, scatter-shield, king cobra clutch and roller bearing upgrade to clutch pedal, 4 inch aluminum driveshaft, Custom Currie heavy duty housing rear end, Currie axles, limited slip and 31 spline axles to a 3.25 ratio. Everything brand new.

INTERIOR: Everything new inside out. Seats, carpet, door panels, headliner you name it. Upgraded gauge cluster package, shift light, air fuel ratio, and boost gauge. Doors and dash are painted the body color as well. The stereo system has also been upgraded with new speakers front and rear amp and sub-woofer mounted in the trunk.

In short, this car is a beast. High end built with only the best parts. Very nice detail everywhere. It’s been driven now for about 3600miles so the underside, though fully restored, has accumulated minor dust and dirt but still looks obviously restored. I do not have any underside pics at the moment as there has not been a need for the car to be put up on a lift. Rest assured the bottom looks like the rest of the car. Like new condition. Beautiful.

I have made a video and took many HD pictures to show you how the car looks right this minute. Feel free to inquire but only after viewing the entire listing, there’s about 150 photos and 8min video. You should know what this car is and does when you see it all.

I’m pricing this car conservatively. I know what I have and I know the market. Simply put, there’s nothing like this for this kind of money. You cannot built it for the asking price. if you wish to own it, you have to pay for it, there’s no way around it. I only do quality cars and I always sell them quickly when they go on the market. I see cars lingering on eBay for months, even years .. Not mine. Feel free to see my other cars on my Youtube channel to understand what it means when I say” “this car is NICE and FAST.” Many people consider their cars nice and fast without having the prospective. I’m NOT like ‘many people'… :)

Cash on hand will give you bases for best deal. Serious buyers only please. I offer professional conduct from A to Z and I also expect it. 949374884nine
