Description of 1970 Ford Torino Torino GT |
Hello, For sale is this 1970 Ford Torino Cobra 2 door sportsroof. Only 7,675 Torino Cobras were produced. This one has the 429 4v with the Ram Air. Was originally Grabber green. I bought the car in 1986. It was primer gray and the motor had just been rebuilt. Was running a little rough as the valves needed readjusted. The person I bought it from had gotten several tickets after rebuilding the motor. He even had wired switches into the ashtray to turn off the tail lights when being chased. I never really drove it. As I was working 60 hours a week as an auto mechanic, working on friends cars on the side and drag racing our 67 Mustang on Sundays. I also had another 70 Torino. I was starting a family and our second child a son was born in 1989. The wife was wanting to buy a house. One morning I woke up and decided to give up working on cars and hung up my wrenches to focus on family and buying a house. Parked all of my classic Fords and quit drag racing. Quit my job and working on cars. The Son arrived. We eventually bought a house with a pole barn. The barn was suppose to be for the cars. The cars never made it and got parked beside the barn. 4h projects were in the barn. We bought the house in 1993 and the cars have sat there since. I loved the 70 Torinos and with the 429 Wow what power. They were sharp looking. It was actually Motor Trends Car of the Year. Sadly this car has sunken into the ground sitting there all these years. The ground is kind of wet over there. My health has recently went down hill also and I need to raise some money. I use to drive this car everyday. It has the 429 Cora jet engine. The motor does turn by hand. Also when I purchased this car was told the original Cobra Jet heads had been replaced with 4 bbl heads. We installed a Holley spread bore carb on it-still have the original carb. Also put Hooker headers on it. We installed a high torque starter on it-which was over $320 way back when. This car does have the N on the rearend-is trac-lock and had that clunk as you turned the corners. The doors are all locked and I have not found the keys for it. Due to my health condition I can not get the engine block numbers-the car is sunken in the ground. Do not know the condition of the floorboards? Appears the original color was the medium blue. Has a dent in the drivers door-was there when I bought it. I do have the original hood for it has it had the shaker hood-unfortunately the Shaker assembly has been stolen. Has black interior with the black bench seat-appears mice have gotten to the bench seat and chewed some where the driver sits. No stereo-believe the rear speakers are there. Rear seat looks good. Body overall looks pretty good-rear quarters look bad. Has air shocks on the rear. Would like to sell it has is. It will take some work to get it out. Sunk in the ground. The 4 tires don't hold air. Would guess the frame is fragile. Have not found the keys for it. Any interests? Any Ford Collectors want a rare and unique car? Have seen the cars go for 60-70k when restored. Are You ready for a project. Let me know. Thanks. Can take additional photos as requested. Willing to try to answer any questions You may have. Please serious inquirees only. |
