Description of 1962 Ford Galaxie Town Sedan

Barn Find Project Car. Well actually a garage. I got this car in a "two-fer" from the same family along with a 1963 Galaxie 500 XL which is what I will be rebuilding so this one is available . If you want an inexpensive project car, this is the one, I am selling it for what I have in it because I would really like to have someone buy this car and get it back on the road. Its a solid car, will need the usual TLC and would be an easy restoration as almost everything is still there or available online to build it back to its former glory. The desirable 1962 Galaxie 500 body is timeless and very sought after. Even though this is a 4 door it really looks good. I am concentrating on the '63 XL so I am selling this for cheap rather then have it sit again. A New Mexico car, parked in 1988 and never driven again. This car is all original and unmolested except for an alternator conversion, has the 292 Y block engine with Fordomatic transmission. The only change from OEM are the rims, the originals were missing ( the car was on blocks )so I used a set of chrome rims I had available, they will go with the car. The car is solid, with no rust, hasn't been hit or damaged that I can tell. Somewhere along the time it was repainted White from the original Blue. The interior will need to be upholstered and carpeted, the headliner is OK, all the glass is OK except for a crack in the passenger side rear window which is flat glass and easy and cheap to replace. The history I got was the owner died in 1988 so the car was garaged along with the XL and now the family is selling everything off. I changed the oil and filter, drained the fuel tank, primed the oil pump and it started right up. it runs and drives, no smoke, no knocks, no leaks. The are NO BRAKES ( except for the ebrake which works ok )so consider this when arranging transport, it is not licensed or insured so it cannot be driven anywhere. Has the usual issues with a 55 year old car but all appear to me minor ones, the ones I can see right off were horn doesn't work and the front turn signal wires are disconnected, also the heater has been bypasse, there is no one alive that can tell me anything more about the car but it appears to be an excellent candidate for a rat rod, cruiser or restoration. Priced to sell, make me an offer. dean 505-414-0617
