Restoration Photos SELLER REMARKS A little bit of road race. a little bit of luxury. and a touch of Shelby make this 1965 Mustang coupe stand out in a big way. There are some serious upgrades under the skin to make it ride and drive like a more modern car and there's no denying the sinister look that transforms the friendly Mustang into a hardcore piece of iron. We know Shelby didn't build coupes for public consumption. but the ones they took to the track might have looked a bit like this slick little coupe. Of course. Shelby was about speed. so nothing they were building looked this pretty. with miles-deep midnight blue paint and contrasting silver stripes to really make it pop. The blacked-out look works exceptionally well here. with most of the trim dipped in the same inky blue paint and the front bumper removed in favor of a GT350-R type front valence with integral fog lamps. The cowl induction hood makes the simple Mustang look aggressive and with the ducktail spoiler out back. this sucker looks predatory just sitting still. Finish quality is quite good for a car with this much performance. showing that not only was the focus on going fast but also looking good and when you show up in this pony. people are definitely going to notice. The gorgeous tan interior isn't like any early Mustang you've driven. Fresh ProCar Elite buckets are infinitely more comfortable than the original stools and with a tunnel-hugging center console. it feels more like 2005 than 1965 inside. A wood-rimmed steering wheel and stock-style door panels are a link to the past. but the instrument panel full of trick TIP Tech instruments gives the dash a whole new look. The car also includes upgrades like a nicely integrated A/C system. an AM/FM/iPod stereo system with CD changer. and 3-point seat belts that add welcome safety (critical in a car that generates speed like this one does). The work is recent so everything is in excellent condition. including the back seat that was custom upholstered to match the front buckets and the trunk is lined in tan carpets that lend an upscale look that's very welcome here. Like all great early Mustangs. this one packs a snarling 289 that definitely wants to run. The block was bored . 030 oversize and fitted with new pistons along with an Edelbrock cam and intake manifold to help it breathe. Up top. there's a Summit Racing 600 CFM 4-barrel carburetor. which is just about right for a small block that likes to rev and it's dressed to impress with finned valve covers and a monochromatic look that's a little high-tech looking. Long-tube headers feed a custom exhaust system with side exits just ahead of the rear wheels and glasspack-style mufflers. so it sounds like Lemans all over again. The original 3-speed manual transmission is still in service and with highway-friendly gears out back. it's still a great highway cruiser. The front suspension has a Shelby-inspired drop that gives it a wicked stance and all the bushings. bearings. springs. and shocks are recently installed. to it handles beautifully. Big 17-inch wheels with a Torque Thrust look and black centers tie it to the '60s but are fitted with modern 235/45/17 performance rubber. Complete with restoration photos and receipts. this cool pro-touring style pony delivers lots of fun with a vintage twist. all at a very affordable price.
