Description of 1964 Ford Mustang Pending |
My loss is your gain. I used to be a sailor with more money than discernment. I bought a decent ’64 ½ Mustang: Wimbeldon White with Red interior and an upgraded 302 engine. It had some rust in the doors, so I wanted to get it repainted, but change the color to black. One thing led to another, and the body man seduced me with his vision for a high performance car. Change the interior, hence the black Recaro seats, add disc brakes, torque boxes, slapper bars, manual transmission, aftermarket upper control arms, nine inch rear end with rear disc brakes, roll bar, the list went on and on. So did the pages of the calendar, flipping by one after the other as the car either sat or came further apart. The body work really is fantastic – it’s ready for a black paint job – you know how unforgiving black is! I got fed up, took my car back, parked it in my dad’s barn, and found another line of work. I’ve come to realize that I’m never going to put this car back together. There’s some work to do, but it’s mostly all here! Put it back together and this car is easily worth $22,000. Today, not so much. This car has some value just in parts, but I'm not sure what it will fetch here in the marketplace. I have figures in mind, and I'll start high if you ask, but I will consider serious offers. There’s someone out there who’s going to be very happy turning this lump of coal into a diamond. I’d like to see the finished product, if you’re willing to share.
