I am selling my 1969 Ford Econoline Chateau 300. This classic is in very good condition. The doors and hood open and close so smoothly - it speaks volumes about how well the previous owners cared for it. As an example, you can close the side and rear doors without first pulling down on the lever - the upper and lower deadbolts push in and out by theirself. The car as no rust. None at all. The most solid vehicle i have seen yet. The only imperfection related to integrity is the battery tray has deteriorated due to years of battery drainage. This van has a 351 Cleveland 4V engine - I was told it came out of a '72 Ford Mach 1. It has lots of power! The brakes work very well - it even has a brake sensor/lever that flips back and forth under dash whenever the brakes are applied. I'm not sure what its purpose is actually. The carburator installed works well - but prior to warm up the automatic choke is not working properly. So, currently while driving its easy enough to hold the butterfly closed while driving until it warms up. Of course, this should be fixed prior to driving on public roads.
This is a 1 ton vehicle. It has the factory F250 8 lug wheels and axles. This was the top of the line econoline available.
The van has some cool drapes set up - so you easily slide the drapes and cover all the side glass to get some shade or privacy. This van has so much potential - so much fun.
The tires are shot. All (4) tires hold air well - but the fronts are quite bare and should not be driven too much more or they could explode at any time. I have driven this van on the freeway and around town and it is lots of fun - and it sounds like a muscle car. The carpet in the rear is fair, I removed the front carpet since it was in bad shape.
As shown in the photos, the passenger side rear corner had a minor accident that required some repair. The repair was done fair - probably could use a little time to make it ready for paint. The van had a side gas tank which was removed. The hole was professionally filled up and primered. The rear gas tank was flushed and works well - but the fuel gage does not read as accurately as I like. When the gas tank is 100% full, the fuel gage reads around 1/2. So, when the gas gage reads empty there is still lots of gas left in tank. The fuel sending unit works well - it was tested. However, I recommend the new owner drop the tank, and slightly bend the float arm so that it spans the highs and lows a lot better. All of the glass is good except for one of the side passenger doors that has broken glass - this will need to be repaired.
This econoline has the rare step-off platform at the side passenger door - it mechanically opens and closes with the door - pretty cool.
Included in the sale is many extra econoline parts from a donor van. Some parts include relpacement set of of inner door panels - both the hard fiberglass that runs along the upper inside, both sides, and the lower vinyl panels with hard panel backboards. They are all in great shape.
