Description of 1987 Ford Ranger XLT |
I am the original owner of this Indiana Ranger. It was originally used to haul conveniencestore products. More recently I have used it to haul things for projects around the house. The truck has 173,000 actual miles. It has been garaged or parked under roof most of its life. I have been storing it in an outdoor garage at a property owned by my wife's now deceased grandparents the last several years when not using it. Events this past summer have ended this storage option. I found the truck had been vandalized while in storage this past summer. The damage is listed below and in the pictures. It looks like the damage was probably doneby kids. 1. The sliding rear window in the cab was broken out.2. Both door lock key cylinders are damaged and will not accept a key.3. The left door and right front fender have body damage. The doors both open and close normally.4. The ignition lock cylinder was damaged. I got the key inserted and turned to start and shut off the engine and have not removed it since. The steering column cover is not damaged.5. The two round instrument bezels were broken. The gauges were not damaged.6. The radio knob was broken off.7. All 4 tire sidewalls were slashed. These tires and original wheels are shown in the bed of the truck and are included in the sale. The tires are NOT usable. The wheels are OK. I settled a claim with the insurance company but have decided not to repair the truck. I figure the kids will come back so I no longer have a place to safely park it. I have decided to attempt to sell it as is rather than fix it for the kids to damage again. I found 4 cheap used tires and wheels to get it rolling again. 3 of the 4 tires are "serviceable"; not excellent but they have tread. The 4th, currently on the right front has cords showing. I have been driving the truck around locally but would not recommend driving too far on it. The spare only has about 50 miles on it but is the original 30 year old Firestone. The truck had Super Seal rustproofing when new. There is minor body rust in the door corners of the cab and in the top rim area of the bed. The fenders are not rusted out. The paint has peeling clear coat on the roof and on top of the fenders and bed rail. The chrome on the bumpers and trim is not as bright as new but is not rusted. Other than the broken sliding window, the glass is good, other than a 3" or so scratch on the right side door glass. The Indiana Ranger emblems on the bed are perfect. I have the original "Rally Bar" (looks like a roll bar with lights) for the bed that came with the Indiana Ranger package. It will not fit in the bed with the bed cap that is currently installed. The cap is not original equipment. The ignition lock looks like an easy replacement since the original key still turns. As is where is. No guarantees. It is almost 30 years old. I drove it about 15 miles on Saturday. Low feedback bidders bids subject to removal. Cash sale only. Local pickup in the Indianapolis area. |
