Description of 1956 Ford Thunderbird Base Convertible 2-Door |
Oh, how I don’t want my bird to leave its’ nest! After owning my peacock blue 1956 Ford T-Bird for over fifteen years, I have decided to let someone else enjoy it. This car has always been a driver driven in local parades, driven on many leisure trips around town, and placed in several local car shows sponsored by our local Ford dealership. Since I have owned this car, I have kept up with the scheduled maintenance with heavy emphasis on oil changes and tune-ups. I had planned to have this car completely restored when I first bought it in 2001, but decided to just enjoy it the way it is. It is certainly a great candidate for anyone wishing to restore it as it had a partial restoration before I purchased it. I have always kept it very clean, and just by virtue of the 1956 Ford T-Bird’s rareness, it has been a tremendous head turner! There are the typical imperfections with a car of this age as it is not perfect in any way. Again, it is a super fun, fun, fun driver that will provide many years of great ‘head turnin’ enjoyment. I have always been a T-Bird lover and have really enjoyed the classic of them all, the 1956 T-Bird! It has been a real blast to own and drive this car! Please call me with any questions that you may have. My number is 803-300-0071. Here are some details about this beauty. Body:- Color is the popular peacock blue.- Has the matching peacock blue hard top with porthole windows.- Has the continental spare tire.- Has the rear tire fender skirts.Interior:- Color is the peacock blue and white.- New peacock blue carpet.- New white Thunderbird mats (These were tough to find.).- Trunk liner.- Manual operation as there are no power windows or power seats.- Seat belts have been installed. Instrumentation:- Speedometer works.- Gas gauge works.- Temperature gauge works.- Generator gauge works.- Interior dash light works.- Speedometer globe for night driving works.- All lights work (brake lights, tail lights, interior lights, etc.).- Horn works great. The clock and the Tachometer do not work. They are in place in the event the new owner wants to get them rebuilt and working again. The clock for the T-Bird radio/cassette player provides great time. (See below.) Engine:- Ford Thunderbird 312 V8 Steering:- Manual Transmission:- 3 speed Ford-a-Matic (Changes gears very smoothly.) Radio:- I installed an aftermarket Thunderbird AM/FM cassette system. A great system, made specifically for the early birds, is fantastic when playing tapes with 1950s tunes. If the buyer does not have the tunes, I can provide them. I have the original owners manual for this car and will include it. This manual is not a reproduced manual, it is the original one that came with the car in 1956. I will also include a car cover for when the car stored in the garage. I have always kept this car in a garage, and have taken very good care of it over the years. New owner will receive two sets of keys (Trunk/ignition/glove compartment). I have a reasonable reserve on the bird.Vehicle has a clear South Carolina Title. A non-refundable deposit of $500.00 will be due within 48 hours of auction end with the balance due and payable in cash or certified funds before the car is released.Full payment will be due within 7 days of auction close. It will be the new owner’s responsibility to pick up the car, or provide shipping arrangements within two weeks of auction end unless other arrangements have been made. There is no implied or written warranty on this car, and the sale is final with no refund. I have added many photos of this car. Please feel free to call me with any questions. I can be reached at (803) 300-0071. The reserve on this classic 1956 Ford Thunderbird is low…so happy bidding. Thanks for looking! God bless America, and God bless our Troops! |
