Description of 1965 Ford F-100 |
1965 Ford F100 4x4 Showing approx. 68,000 miles. We really don't want to part with the truck, but due to necessity that is what needs to be done. From what we know the truck was in Maryland for most of its years and in about the past five to ten years ago had a repaint and the original in line six engine was removed and a 390 FE V8 (came out of something in the 70's I was told) was installed. It has a 4 speed manual transmission with the first being a granny. The two front hubs were also rebuilt around the same time as well. The four wheel drives works fine as it should. Everything else with the engine and transmission functions properly. It has a 4 barrel holley carb that was rebuilt this summer, as well as new exhaust under the bed of the truck. It is straight pipe exhaust so no muffler, so as you can imagine with a 390, it ROOOAAARRSSS like a lion. It passed Delaware inspection, and is tagged until 2018. Late August of 2016 I put four new Goodyear Wrangler 235/75r15 on the truck and they have less than 1,000 miles on them. Recently, the oil has been changed and the coolant system has been flushed. The heat works, and all the gauges work, except for the fuel gauge. The float part in the tank behind the seat is what needs to be fixed or replaced - the proper pulse current has been checked and is at the connection at the top of the tank. All the lights inside and out work, except for the plow lights, I think it is just a simple matter of they need to be connected to power and they will work. The hydraulic pump for the plow works properly, though it does have a leak, so after about 15 minutes the plow lowers back to the ground. The frame is intact and solid. For a 51 year old truck this truck in my opinion is extremely solid. As you can see from the pictures the outside body looks very nice for its age.Yes there are some rust areas which we tried to show in the pictures, but underneath most is surface and over all things are very solid. The floors are very solid. Also the bed at some point had a diamond deck plate cut to fit and put in - very strong! Suspension - They don't make them like they used to - 10 leaf springs at each rear wheel and 4 leaf springs at each front wheel. I’ve driven her with 2,000 pounds in her bed, and she didn’t squat. No power steering and only drum brakes. She’s a real work horse. The bench seat, and the vinyl flooring show their age, but they are all original from 1965. The windows roll up and down nicely, and the locks do work. I drive it fairly often throughout a week, keep her purring and lubricated. I give her a pump and a half on the gas petal and she starts right up. Because it is a very large and old engine I usually give it ten minutes to get up to normal operating temperature. She may not be the prettiest girl at the ball, but she still turns lots of heads. This is an Extremely rare truck. Especially because of the original plow set up. The CB radio will be removed prior to sale. Also there is an aftermarket stereo in the dash that does have power to it, but no speakers hooked up to it.
