For sale is a very rare 1953 Ford P500 custom step Van. Originally purchased by the the South Placer Fire District as a mobile kitchen and central hub. Outfitted with a custom aircraft aluminum rear body that can be polished (like an airstream). There is a 4' X 4' section that has been polished (see picture of Vanette on the trailer). The van has only surface rust on front hood. The rest is in amazing, original condition. It is literally a time capsule-still retains the original 6V electrical system, including cloth wiring (some of the wires have been replaced). The electrical system is rough as it is 61 years old and was heavily modified for the fire department. The van does run. The original 215 cost cutter straight six starts up easily and runs well. It does need the exhaust replaced. The transmission is the all synchronized 4 speed, used in the bigger F500 trucks of that era, mated to a daully two speed rear end. This van is big, the Max G.V.W is 14,000 pounds, which means this van weighs approximately 9,000-10,000 pounds and is about 11ft tall. The roof does leak and needs to be sealed. It currently has a tarp over it. The leaking has caused some interior ceiling damage. The RV area is mostly a kitchen, as seen in the pictures. It has a small toilet area that is missing the toilet seat/ bowl, but the flushing mechanism is still there (boat toilet?). The old Motorola tube type fire radio is still installed. Has multiple water tanks and grey/ brown water tanks. Tires are Old and dry cracked and need to be replaced, still retains the original two piece 20" wheels. This would make a great vintage hot rod RV, trailer, camper, food truck, etc. Local pick-up is preferred. If you want to arrange your own shipping, we can work that out. You can see from the picture on the trailer what is going to be needed to move this. Clean California title registered as Non op. This is a really cool and very unique Vanette that has great potential and deserves a nice restoration.
