Description of 1929 Ford Model A Roadster A-V8 |
1929 FORD “A-V8”ROADSTER A NOSTALGIC EXAMPLE OF A TRUE AMERICAN HOT ROD BY WEEKDAY:Full fendered sole means of daily transport (on streets / to work & drive-ins). BY WEEKEND:A Dry Lake Land Speed Racer / Class: C/ achieved 125 MPH + speeds without the excess weight or drag of “non-essentials” such as fenders, running boards, windshield & lights. In the 40's & 50's this inexpensive light weight auto weighing 2,106 lbs w/no side or rear windows was the car of choice to modify for linear hi-speed & fast acceleration upon vast lake beds. This dual-role Dry Lake Street Roadster was built to its' current late 40's era configuration by ace-engineer, two-time world land-speed record holder & 200 MPH Club Member Butch Philips. All efforts have been made during restoration, safety & engineering upgrades to retain this vehicles signature of "stout simplicity", while preserving the most formative years of hot rodding.
