Description of 1934 Ford Other |
1934 ford phaeton, I put this car together about 4 1/2 years ago and its been driven all over since, texas for the lone star roundup, Bonneville a couple times, central cal, and all over southern California, it's built up about 30,000 miles and has always been reliable. Runs great, drives comfortably at 85-90 all day down the highway, it's the kinda car you can hop in and go anywhere. I purchased the body and frame at the LA roadster show swap meet in 2012, it had been imported from Australia sometime in the early 80's, the previous owned started working on it by replacing the wood inner structure with steel, that's as far as they got then it sat in a barn in Bakersfield Ca. until the family brought it down to the swap to sell. I rounded up a bunch of vintage parts and got to work, the original frame was in great condition, suspension consist of an original chrome dropped front axle, chrome split wishbones, reverse eye spring, and chrome '40 ford front brakes, the rear is a 1957 ford wagon 9" with 3.00 gears and the bolt pattern drilled out to 5-5.5, its held in place with a pair of chrome ladder bars and 34 spring. steering is a stock '34 box with a 1941 ford pickup column tube and 1940 deluxe wheel. interior is fairly sparse with just the seats done in pleated naugahyde, aluminum door panels, and a thick canvas tonneau cover. dash is filled with late 50's vintage stewart warner gauges that are all hooked up and working. the engine is a 1960 chevy 283 that was rebuild about 8,000 miles ago. 10-1 compression, mild Schneider cam, offenhauser 3x2 intake with Stromberg 48's, Mallory dual point, rebuilt generator, original corvette valve covers, its backed up with a turbo 350 transmission that was a fresh rebuild when the car first went together, it all makes for a great reliable package that has plenty of power, linkage is progressive and it'll run on just the center carb up to 80mph and get around 22mpg. Wheels and tires, it will come with '40 ford 16" wheels all around not the divcos as seen in some of the pictures. tires are 5.50-16 ribbed fronts and 7.50-16 rears. serious buyers can contact me to come look at the car/ test drive in Escondido ca. for international buyers I can deliver to long beach Ca. area for shipping for $150 hot rod scta roadster hotrod |
