Description of 1968 Ford Mustang |
| eBay Template
1968 Mustang Fastback, S-Code 390 GT Big Block backed with Ford Toploader 4-Speed Transmission. Built May 27, 1968 at Ford's San Jose assembly plant and was DSO'd to the Western Canada Sales Office. Confirmed by Marti Report as a true Candyapple Red (Code T paint) with GT Equipment Group and rare factory Bench Seat option. Currently showing 29,309 miles (current odometer reading, title reads milage exempt, mileage cannot be confirmed) this big block fastback is ready to drive and enjoy. The car shows a repaint in it's original Candyapple Red and presents itself very well with only a few minor flaws. The undercarriage has been painted black but still shows some of its original paint drip marks which are often lost during restoration. No signs of rust repair to the floors, torques or rails were noted. It appears the car has had professional repair to the lower quarter panels and the tops of the fender aprons, common trouble spots on most early Mustangs. The GT is powered by what is believed to be it's original "Numbers-Matching" 390 GT motor. A partial VIN stamping was located on the rear of the engine block. The block has a casting date of 8C18 (March 18, 1968), and the vehicle was built on May 7, 1968. It also has the rare Canadian Non-Emissions heads used on cars destined for the Canadian market. The Toploader 4-Speed bears a tag number of RUG-AE2 which is a close ratio unit with C70R tailshaft. Rear end is a 9" housing and the center chunk is a Ford unit but appears to have been replaced at some point in the car's life. The interior was optioned as code "8D" Red Knit Vinyl Bench Seat. Upholstery is in good condition with no rips or tears. The car also sports the optional deluxe seatbelt as well as added fold-down rear seat and Ford Tachometer. The car still wears it's original Ford Warranty Door Tag indicating original options and build date as well as Dash VIN tag. Documentation includes a Marti Report documenting factory options. Payment: A deposit of $1000 (non-refundable) must be paid within 48 hours of winning bid. The remaining balance must be paid within 3 business days.
