Description of 1937 Ford Other Pickups |
1937 Ford Pickup Custom Built on Spike TV18 Miles New Build Pro StreetThis is a rare opportunity to purchase a new build that has TV history attached to it. with only 18 miles on the odometer the truck has only been road tested. This truck was built on Trucks on the Sunday morning show on Spike TV. it was a full custom build with all top shelf parts. no expense spared on this build. This truck is based on a Downs manufacturing chassis and body that is built from very nice fiberglass and has a metal truck bed. The chassis is a custom mandrel bent rectangular tubing. independent front end. narrowed pro street rear. rack and pinion steering designed for a modern feel. The paint and body work is excellent and is one of the nicest fiberglass vehicles that we have seen. The truck runs great with a new 347 Stroker Ford engine with aluminum heads and a hydraulic roller that has a nice muscle car sound. We have attached many more pictures of the truck along with a video of it running and driving. Please call to discuss purchase and or inspection. as with any large purchase like this we recommend inspecting the truck. Our number is 972-496-3278. we did not build the truck but we have gone over it and road tested it to verify that everything works as it should. There will be no warranty on the vehicle as we are selling it for a customer. We will describe the truck as honestly as possible. Wire transfer or cash only. no games. we have seen and heard them all. Body:Downs fiberglass cab. hood. fenders. running boards. Metal bed with wood floor and gas filler in the bed. Doors have inside latches as well as door poppers. This truck is not an original Ford product. it is a kit and is titled as such. it has a Downs VIN number. not a Ford one. The hood pivots to the front and this is one design that could use some attention. it does not have a latch. it cannot open while driving. but it could use a latch to hold it down more firmly. Fit and finish on the truck is a 9 out of 10 and is very good for fiberglass. Doors shut and open good. tailgate functions properly and does come down like factory. The wood in the bed is stained and looks good. This truck would qualify as a weekend driver or show truck. it is Not perfect but is very well built. it has a couple of minor paint flaws but it presents itself well and draws tons of attention. The paint on this truck is also a 9 out of 10 in my opinion. few flaws. very slick finish and nice flames. I'd estimate the paint and body work to be in the 30. 00 dollar range if my shop did the work. Chassis:Downs tubular chassis. painted or powdercoated. it looks good. battery is hidden under the passenger fender. easy to access. Coilover suspension on front and rear. tubular independent front control arms with manual rack and pinion. steers nicely requires some effort but anybody can drive it. The rearend is a Currie 9" with 4. 30 gears that help makeup for the huge back tires. The truck cruises nicely in town or on the highway with its overdrive 6 speed transmission. The rear end is narrowed and also uses coilover shocks. Baer brakes all the way around. big brakes and they stop good. they are manual. but little pedal effort is required to slow this thing down. Drivetrain:The engine is a Blueprint 347 Stroker that makes 425 horsepower and as you'll see in the video it makes every bit of that and then some. It has a healthy hydraulic roller camshaft that sounds mean. idles well starts good in any weather and has the precision Grubbs Motorsports street tune up in it. New plugs. Joe Gibbs hot rod oil. Wix racing filter and a tune on the Edelbrock carburetor make this thing run as it should. The truck has an aluminum radiator and electric fan. it runs cool. but we have not tried it in the summer. it should be good as it is a large radiator. The engine has headers and a pretty loud exhaust system. maybe a little loud for some but it sounds good. The engine is backed up with a steel bellhousing. hydraulic assisted performance clutch that requires little clutch effort and works great. The transmission is a Richmond 6 Speed manual with a Long style shifter. Everything works as it should. shifts smoothly and works great. Custom built driveshafts ties the trans to the Currie rearend with 4. 30 gears and positrac. large aftermarket axles spin the big tires. The wheels are Mickey Thompson as well as the tires. I believe them to be 20x15 in the rear and 18x6 in the front. tires are brand new. just as everything else on the truck is. Interior:The interior is a full custom build with bucket seats. custom console. billet trim. leather and suede with a very custom Chrome dash. This dash and the window surrounds are a very special chromed fiberglass. A special process treats the fiberglass to accept copper. after that is hand shaped and smooth. several layers of chrome are applied. This is a very expensive and time consuming process that you will not see anywhere else. The AC unit is from Vintage Air and works as it should. the power window work good. One thing the truck could use is weatherstrip on the doors. it has some wind noise at higher speeds. not a big deal just want to describe if for what it is. The seats are comfortable and the truck rides nice. There is no stereo in the truck but it could easily have one added if you wanted to. Billet steering wheel with aftermarket tilt column. manual steering steers great with little effort. This truck is easily a 100. 00 dollar plus build if you had it built today at a custom shop. parts alone would be well north of 60. 00. So here is a unique opportunity to buy a truck that is finished. so you don't have to wait a year to have it built. The truck has TV history so it will always be worth money. and I promise your buddy at the car show will not have anything like this. While we test drove the truck several people pulled up and took pictures and video of it as we drove by. The truck is pretty quick and runs as it should. it runs on premium pump gas and acts like a well built hot rod should. Please ask any questions or request any pictures you want before you bid. We are motivated to sell the truck but will not give it away. 37 Ford Slideshow by grubbsmotorsports | PhotobucketHome - DropboxHome - Dropbox |
