Description of 1946 Ford Other |
A 1946 Ford 2 door sedan. Car came from Texas and then stored in NY for many many years. Looks like the last time it was on the road was in 1978 or so. This is a running driving and stopping car. None to very little rust. Has a couple of small spots in the trunk right hand side and a pinhole or two in the floor in front of seat. The motor is not from a 1946 car (earlier). We took the heads off to check out and everything was fine. Put 2 new water pumps on at that time. New clutch and pressure plate and t/o bearing installed when engine put back in car. All new brake lines. master cylinder. hoses and wheel cylinders too. Gas tank was cleaned and POR'd. New gas tank sending unit. New fuel line and fuel pump. New battery. Radiator looks bad but does not leak. Has new electric fan installed. All of the wiring is new from Dennis Carpenter. Completely new from tail light to headlights including horn and steering column. All of the gauges work except the temp gauge. using a mechanical gauge now. New exhaust pipes and muffler. Does not run all the way to the back. The interior is pretty bare. The seats (red) front and rear are okay with not rips or tears. Original covering I think. The door panels are missing in the front and the original headliner has been patched up. Windows move up and down okay with no damage. The glass is cracked on the drivers side. Rest of the original glass is okay and dated 11/46. A radio is included but not installed. Has the unusual foot controls included. The body was originally a light blue (Moonstone) and has multi-layers of paint here and there. None of it shiney. Have seen no major dents. repairs or body damage since I have owned it. Frame appears to be straight with no rust. Lowered the front since some of the pictures taken. Several leafs taken out. There is some shocks on the car but they leak. and have not been changed. The tires hold air just fine but are very old. Have spent a lot of time and money on this great old car and was planning on keeping it but a rare "barn find" car has changed everything. Any questions or more pictures just ask. Just to answer a few questions. There is A 46 Ford title included. I believe this is a Super Deluxe model per the original dash color and has the crank out vent windows. There is not heater installed or available. There is no carpet or floor mat rubber included. The front suspension has been checked and new parts installed. Bearings. eals etc. Did not test the wiper motor. Checked the front floor. Originally thought it was a rust hole but it looks like a couple of nail holes. The floors are solid. The front removable floor pan has new gasket installed also. |
