It has been carefully driven only 1300 miles since restoration. Classically elegant. the bright white paint emphasizes the clean. unadorned lines of the T-Bird and brilliantly defines the 1950s. You can tell the work on this car was top notch and that they started with a straight body. Fit and finish are good. Chrome and brightwork are dazzling and new. from the eggcrate grille up front to the unique rear bumper with the exhaust ports in the outside corners. Obviously. he white body and white top is extremely striking and with the continental kit. exactly the same color as the body. making for a spectacular look that makes people stop in their tracks when they see it. In the all-new interior the radio has been left to the original style AM unit for enjoyable cruising. The new vinyl seats in red and white and the amazing red and white dashboard and door panels make this the most striking color scheme I've ever seen in a Thunderbird. Other newly installed parts include a era correct battery. 205/75-15 radial whitewall tires and new spare. exhaust system. brakes. many mechanical parts and rewired electrical system. Powering all Thunderbirds in 1956 was Ford's Y-block V8 engine. now displacing 312 cubic inches and generating an impressive 225 horsepower thanks to a recently rebuilt 4-barrel carburetor and valve adjustment. Car is fitted with the original automatic it is believed. Thanks to the frame-off restoration. the engine bay was highly detailed and while it shows a few signs of use today. the engine still runs even better than it looks. From the Ford Red paint on the block to the beautiful cast aluminum Thunderbird valve covers with simulated turquoise inlays. it looks the part of Ford's personal/luxury car. The undercarriage sports replaced front springs to restore ride quality. recently serviced brakes. and a new dual exhaust system. It still wears what looks like its original undercoating. The trunk is solid. detailed and finished in the car color with a era correct mat. 15-inch wheels wear new hubcaps and a set of road-worthy 205/75/15 wide whitewalls. This car sports a 2-speed Ford-O-Matic that shifts effortlessly. so it's a pleasure to drive. It glides along the rode with ease at 55 with no shake or wobble. These Thunderbirds are wonderful performers on the road. and are just as fun to drive today as they were in 1956.
