With this model, Ford introduced the famed Cobra Jet series of engines, which offered an impressive amount of horsepower. This was Ford's mainstream performance automobile and truly solidified the company's position as a capable manufacturer of American musclecars. Ford effectively jam-packed the Cobra Jet with the perfect combination of looks and personality, making it equally as desirable today as it was when it was first introduced. This Mustang Mach 1 has been frame-off restored and is well-equipped and properly finished in Black Jade with an interior that is primarily White with black center console, dash, carpet and door “kick” panels. Options include the 428-cid, 335-hp (non-Ram Air hood) Cobra Jet engine, C-6 Cruise-O-Matic transmission FACTORY AIR conditioning power steering power brakes (with front discs) factory Argent-styled steel wheels BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. MARTI REPORT FACTORY TINTED GLASS The Mach 1 428 CJ is accompanied by a Deluxe Marti Report that shows it was built in San Jose on October 18, 1968 and first shipped to Jacobe-Pearson Ford, Inc. in Houston, Texas. The Marti Report confirms the code-C Black Jade paint and 3W White interior colors from new. Additional features listed on the Report includes Traction-Lok differential, visibility group, Sport Deck rear seat, Philco AM radio and all windows being tinted glass. The interior also has a rim-blow steering wheel, woodgrain trim, clock, twin racing mirrors with driver’s side remote, chin spoiler and the black-out hood treatment. Reliable sources indicate the total Mustang series accounted for 299,824 cars that Ford produced in 1969. From this, 72,458 Mach 1’s were produced in the same model year. Only 13,261 Mustang’s received either the 428 SCJ or 428 CJ in 1969 and to further show the significance of this car, only 1,280 were Q-Code SportsRoof examples with an automatic transmission, such as this quite desirable model. Its 4V CJ V-8 is acclaimed for being strong, fast and able to demonstrate loads of power. This Mustang doesn't hesitate to perform, so don’t be afraid to test the throttle when the opportunity presents itself. Distinct and coveted from introduction, this is a fantastic opportunity to own a fine, documented example of Ford's legendary Mach 1. |
