Description of 1940 Ford Other Pickups rat rod |
This is a 1940 Fordpick up cab. The doors are from two different years and are kind of rough. The chassis is brand new and has quarter elliptic rear springs and are adjustable for height. You can raise or lower the rear with a large adjusting bolt on the chassis. The spring kit is from Speedway Motors. The rear end is a early Franklin champ quick change that currently has a spool in it but included with the car is a 31 spline Franklin Gleason style locker and one set of gears that should be great for road gears and when you flip them you can melt the tires. The front suspension is a torsion bar set up that I built using sprint car bars and stops, which are fully adjustable on front and rear for height. The front spindles and hubs are also sprint car pieces made by DMI racing. The steering box is an all aluminum power unit also for a sprint car. It includes the Pitnum arm and steering wheel mount and this will work with any OEM or after market power steering pump. The engine is a Ford 466 cubic inch big block. It has been bored .030 over with Teflon coated TRW pistons. The engine has been completely balanced and blue printed and has been ported and polished and the intake ports matched to the intake. Everything in the engine is new, it has a Pete Jackson gear drive, a Weiand Stealth aluminum intake. The engine is fresh, never been started and was built for a pulling truck. The transmission is a Ford 4 speed top loader and has an older Hurst competition plus shifter. I have been building this truck for myself for several years and have lost interest. It needs a new home, almost all of the fab work is done and now it is ready to start on the smaller stuff, which is where I have lost interest. It has a clear Indiana title, which is a huge plus nowadays. If you need further information or details, I can be reached at 260-433-6954. |
