Description of 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger |
Up for saleis a restored 1978 Ford F-150 Ranger 4X4 short wheel base pick-up truck. This beauty is powered by a fresh 460cid motor backed by a 4-speed manual transmission. The truck has had a TON of money spent on her (I have a file full of receipts) andalthoughshe was built to be driven and enjoyed she seems to draw a crowd whenever and wherever she is parked. She starts with just a tap of the key and runs, drives, steers and stops like she were new. This truckhas NOT been beaten or"mudded" although she is certainly capable, just a nice clean and maintained driver. Have a look at the video clip (link listed below). These arejust some of the new and/or replaced items: Drivetrain: .30 over460cid BBF with 429cid ported heads, 10.5:1 pistons, new roller cam, roller rockers, Edelbrock intake and Demon 850cfm carb, new electronic ignition system and long tube headers with new high volume oil pump, water pump, electric fuel pump, 4 core aluminum radiator, thermostat controlled electric cooling fans. New clutch and flywheel, driveshaft, coil springs, shocks, bushings and steering stabilizer. New fuel tank with new lines, filters and electronic fuel pump with regulator. New front and rearbrakes, new body bushings, new radius, strut and pitmanarms, new 35X12.5 Super Swamper tires fitted on new Eagle wheels with less than 1000 miles on them, new exhaust front to back with "glass pack" style mufflers, the list goes on and on.... Body: The truck is 99% rust free and the cab corners, floors and firewall are almost PERFECT and solid. The fenders, doors, bed, tailgate and hood are also close to perfect only showing only minor issues. The truck has had new spray-in bed liner and dual roll-bar with driving lights installed, custom 2 tone metallic forest green with pepper grey metallic paint with orange pin-stripping, new tinted windshield with all new weather-stripping, window felts and rubbers, new upholstery, new carpet, new headliner, custom gauge cluster with Auto-Meter gauges including water temp, oil pressure, fuel level, voltage and speedometer (all function perfect). Pioneer am/fm CD player with new door speakers, etc, the list goes on and on.... This truck can be driven daily if you choose to do so as all of the lights, wipers, gauges, turn signals, license plate lights, stereo, work as they should. The two things I know will need to be addressed at some point is the starter is not going to last very much longer due to the high compression of the engine. The truck really needs to have a high-torque mini starter installed but I didn't want to make that investment until this one stops working. It may last several more years but I figured its worth mentioning. The other thing that can be addressed at some point is there is a seal in the transfer case that needs to be replaced due to a small leak. Its nothing bad, maybe a drop or two a day but I figured its worth mentioning as well. Please note, this truck is NOT a trailer queen or a show truck although she is absolutely nicer than99% of themout there. The paint is starting to show its age and although it still looks great as you can see in the photos, it has its share of small dings, minor scratches, several bug splatters, a few stone chips and the occasional drop of tree sap. If you wanted the truck to be perfect, a paint job would be in order at somepoint in her future although absolutely not necessary by any means.
