Description of 1971 Ford Bronco |
+ 1971 Swiss Aqua Half Cab + Selling our running, driving, unique, true U14 half-cab. We bought this Bronco in a non-running condition and have slowly made progress getting her cleaned up. We had some good plans to keep working on the Bronco as a project and one day paint it back to its original color but our baby boy is here and plans have changed. Right now it is sitting in primer but underneath the grey tone shows its original paint from back in the day. A cool, rare, unique color for the 1971 Half Cab, 1 of 90 ever made with the color code (3) "Swiss Aqua". The body is pretty straight minus a few dings here and there. The passenger side rocker panel took on a log which dented the underside of rocker, the dent has been pulled but still needs some final attention (see pic). As for rust, the floors have there normal share of rust which were panel patched over the years. There is some surface rust in the bed where it appears like wet leaves sat, etched parts of the bed and put a couple small holes in the surface (see pic). The door pillars, inner fenders, body seams, front fenders, door jambs etc. all are clean of cancerous rust. The doors open and close nicely. The body lines and door jambs are straight. The door seals are missing and could use new ones to quiet up the cab and seal the doors. The half cab top and drip rails are clean. There are a few small line dings on the very top and a few other scrapes but overall the 1/2 cab itself is in good condition. The hood has a 1" vibration crack up on the right front near where the hood stabilizer bumper rest on the underside and a little one on the left side too. This model Bronco was ordered with both auxiliary and main fuel tanks. Both tanks are in as normal but we have only used the front auxiliary tank. The filler neck hose on the aux tank leaks due to age but you can still put gas in. The master cylinder has been replaced but wheel cylinders could use some attention. The brakes work but the bronco has sat for a long time. The brake pedal changes in pressure and effectiveness with use. The ebrake is very sticky and needs adjusting. The Bronco runs and drives but has sat cooped up for a long time. The brakes, carburetor, drive lines, wheels bearings, etc. all should be looked at, adjusted, lubed, replaced, tuned etc.The front driveshaft is out but comes with the Bronco. We were going to have the bench seat reupholstered after sitting so long but decided to sell the bronco in the meantime : ( The bench seat is a cool rare option, you can ride 3 comfortably inside. The bench is just setting in the cab now since we decided to sell instead of reupholster. The engine runs good but could use some air/idle/timing adjustments. We had a brand new exhaust system put on the Bronco so it sounds and purrs quietly. A few things to note: - Re-cored the original radiator and new radiator hoses - Nice original dash pad - New coil - New Center Force Clutch - New water pump - Pertronix ignition - New exhaust system - New Fuel pump - New Battery - New oil sending unit - Oil and Filter just recently replaced - Plugs and wires in good shape Here are few factory and interesting stats on the Bronco; - Vin - U14GLK29357 - U14 - Bronco 4x4 Half Cab Pickup - 302-2V Engine - Built at Michigan Truck - Color Code 3 – ‘Swiss Aqua Paint’ - Factory Parchment Bench Seat - 3-Speed Manual Transmission - 4.11 Conventional Rear Axle - DSO 71 / Los Angeles (District Sales Office) Originally sold from this Ford dealer: HABERFELDE FORD 1400 H Street Bakersfield, Ca 93301 Bronco built on: 10/16/70 Bronco sold on: 01/05/71
As mentioned above, the Bronco needs some attention to be 100% roadworthy. Being such a cool color and a true 1/2 Cab, we think this bronco is an excellent candidate for a mild, medium or full restoration to preserve this unique dinosaur. We hope that the Bronco goes to a good home where it can find its original dress code back from 1971 : ) Happy Bidding, Please ask any questions and or request any additional pictures. *The last picture in the photo gallery we included of another Half Cab that was painted color code 3, the same factory color this Bronco once was and hopefully will be one day again.
