Description of 1970 Ford Mustang Mach I Fastback 2-Door |
This is by far one of the best looking, running, driving, cruising 1970 Mach 1 Fastback Mustang on the planet, period. There are good cars and great cars, but the 1970 Mustang Mach 1 is phenomenal, and this one is as original as they get. But what REALLY separates this Mach 1 is the way it drives and the ownership history. I am the second owner and I have owned this Mustang for only 6 years, the original owner kept the car for most of her adult life and pampered the car (garage kept). Mechanically, this Mach1 is absolutely superb. The motor starts right up, and purrs along, the motor is as new, runs super strong, the transmission shifts silky smooth. This Mach 1 has its original #S matching 351 Cleveland engine, transmission and rear end. This is a 2V 351 engine but I added 4V heads, headers and 4 barrel carb to increase the stock 290HP power to 400 + horses. I have put all the original parts I replaced, including the manifolds in boxes and they could easily be put back by a weekend mechanic to bring the car back to its 100% originality. Other than what parts I updated, none of the major components have been replaced or touched since the Mustang left the factory. The vehicle has been maintained and updated mechanically by a professional mechanic that specializes in early model Mustangs and Ford Panteras. You literally could jump in this car, drive it across the country and you would enjoy it the entire way, it is that reliable! All the gauges work, blinkers, turn signals, dash lights, console light, wipers etc. all good. You will be impressed with the exhaust that gives a nice muscle car tone (watch the YouTube video which I made to document the performance and the beauty of this vehicle). The paint is in good shape overall, the Mach 1 was repainted by the previous owner but the paint it is not perfect, there are some minor chips and wear, but look at the pictures and judge the overall condition. The body is straight as can be with a proper fit and finish, no fillers, no accidents, nada! The glass is excellent, the chrome trim around the windows could be refinished, it is slightly pitted, the headliner has a few seam tears -- I have not replaced it since it is original, I will leave the decision to the next owner. The chrome on bumpers is very clean. The interior has been kept original, as it would sit in 1970 with its knitted vinyl interior, factory option bucket seats, and the coolest blinker lights on the hood scoop. Look at the pics underneath the car, it’s very good. Lastly, the car has factory air conditioning that will chase you out (I had the original compressor rebuilt), power steering and power brakes; this is why the Mustang drives like a dream, these are rare options for a muscle car of this era. The car is sold as is with a clear title in Maryland. The car is for sale locally so the auction can end anytime. Enjoy the ride…. Mustang Pictures Youtube Video |
