Description of 1926 Ford Model T |
This is mostly a period-perfect "Nostalgic" hot rod with a Florida Title. Original 1926 body on custom 2X4 frame. New steel deck lid with skeleton key latch. Working doors and latches. The body is in very good condition for it's age and the patina is sealed with a satin gloss finish. The windshield is new glass. The seat are removal cushions that match the car's flat black deck with gold strips and rustic patina. The back lights are originals with blue dots from '39 ford with new bulbs but still need to be hooked up to the wire harness that is already in place. The working headlights are Dietz type with new 7" bulbs powered by relay and light switch. They are mounted on old worn chrome shocks. Additional wiring for turn signals. brake switch. horn. and accessories is in place. Fuse panel is under dash. All new gauges (TEMP-OIL PRESS-VOLT-FUEL) and senders installed and working. The Vintage Stewart Warner speedometer is missing the drive cable but needle moves freely and lamp works (stopped @ 5. 07 mi. ). New 12V battery located in trunk with aluminum 9 gal. fuel tank. Now for the motor and Suspension descriptions: Ford 1947 type 59A flathead V8 with Offy alum heads and original ford 94 carburetor and intake. The ignition is a Mallory electronic distributor and coil with new wires and plugs. Fenton cast iron exhaust manifolds with small glass pack mufflers. Modern 12V Ford starter/solenoid. New radiator hoses/clamps/fan belt; both water pumps and radiator are in good conditions. Bee-Hive oil filter canister. Electric fuel pump with block-off plate on oil filler tube in case you want to go with mech pump. All new carb linkages. Three-speed Ford transmission in very good condition with tall shift lever and 8-Ball shift knob. Ford '39-'42 juice brakes on all corners with new shoes installed; under-floor M/C with modern GM style proportion valve. They will probably need adjusting after running the car as these old brakes don't self-adjust. The Diff is a Ford Banjo with torque tube shaft and original wishbone. Rear suspension is early type Ford buggy spring and air shocks. Front end is 4-bar type with spring behind tube axle and panhard bar. Spindles are Ford '46 originals that were rebuilt. Wheels are steel 15 X 7 on 5 X 4. 5 bolts with original Moons. Tires are 215/70/15 fronts and 255/60/15 back and have good thread. I would personally change them for old style poly tires. but it's what was around during the build; also the air shocks. Overall the car runs fine and just needs minor detailing touches. this car really stands out at car gatherings because there aren't too many like this around. |
