Description of 1968 Ford Mustang GT / CS |
1968 Ford Mustang GT, California Special, Restomod - $23,950 I am selling my little 1968 Mustang California Special that I have enjoyed tremendously. This Mustang is very reliable, in great condition, makes people stop in their tracks, and has Tons and tons of new parts. So many Mustang coupes all kind of look the same; not this one; you stand out Drives and handles amazing. I spent about a year and a half finding this car; I was lucky enough to find it, and now someone else can enjoy. This is a clone GT/CS, however it has been done right, with a lot of additional nice touches that gives the car an even more aggressive stance, look and performance. This is a very fair and reasonable price for all the work and condition of this particular vehicle. Here is information on the car, and I know I am forgetting some things: ENGINE / DRIVETRAIN Completely rebuild 302 Winsdor V8 top to bottom, bored .30 over, with all of the following also new... Comp Cam, with very nice lope; if you don't like the way this car sounds you do not have a pulse. Aluminum Heads Aluminum Roller Rocker Arms Edelbrock RMP Performer Intake Demon double pumper Carburetor with electronic choke; 700 cfm?? Petronix Electronic Ignition, with new distributor, hp coil, plugs and plug wires Hedman Shorty Headers Flow Master 40 Series Aluminum lifetime mufflers Dual 2 ½ mandrel aluminized exhaust, with h-pipe, and nice chrome tips at a tasteful length and positioning, sticking through the rear valance cut outs New Fuel pump, power steering pump and alternator, with new alternator and power steering brackets. Motor mounts Oversized aluminum radiator Fan Radiator overflow tank Belts, Hoses and Fuel lines Gas Tank and sending unit Hood hinges Aluminum fabricated valve covers, with breather. Nice old school chrome air breather with proper 302 badging Completely rebuilt 3 -speed automatic, with shift kit, and chrome pan. Shifts absolutely perfect at all speeds, loads, and rpm's. 3:55 8.8" Rear End, w/ posi and 31 spline rear axles; its got some scat. Gas Tank and sending unit Engine bay is absolutely phenomenal. Entire engine bay was detail painted, in high gloss black. Motor runs very strong; have always ran full synthetic Mobil 1 10w/30. NEW SUSPENSIO, BRAKE PARTS, ETC. Suspension has been lowered 1 inch; much better stance than factory IMO Scott Drake Gas shocks all the way around Oversized front sway bar with neoprene bushings Monte Carlo bar Chrome Export brace Chrome front shock mounts Control Freak oversized cross member Rear leaf springs Rear Traction Bars Ball Joints Front Shock towers Front coil springs Steering box and rag joint Greaseable Driveshaft U joints 4 wheel Disc brake conversion, with nice oversized drilled and cross drilled rotors, with new wheel bearings Calipers, brake lines, and pads all the way around Dual resvoir Master cylinder GT500 Style 17 inch wheels, with spinners BF Goodrich GForce 45 Series TA Radials (225/45ZR17's), low profile; Wheel and tire combo is perfect on this car IMO BODY / PAINT Paint and stripes are in fantastic shape. Car shines up beautifully, as you can see in the pictures. The color seems to grab everyone's attention. I believe the color is Gulfstream Aqua. The Carrol Shelby inspired side scoops, spoiler trunk lid, and the tail lights is what makes the look of this car IMO. Body is completely solid with no rust. I am sure some of the fenders, etc. have been replaced over the years. Bright work in fantastic shape; wheel moldings, glass moldings, bumpers, mirrors, rocker moldings all good. Some minor blemishes here and there on the paint/body (paint chips, small dings, etc.) as this is a driver, but all minor. New blacked out front grill, with offset 3 bar Mustang logo. I put the logo on it just to personalize it a bit. I also have grill mounted fog lights which I took off; I like the clean open grill; just my personal taste. Trunk mat, and speckle sprayed trunk compartment with new jack set up; have spare tire in trunk. INTERIOR New seat foams and covers front and back. Seats look brand new, and sit well; zero sags or wrinkling. Nice wooden and brushed aluminum GT steering wheel Looks like new carpet but not for sure; carpet is excellent, with Mustang floor mats Pedal rubbers Headliner and sun visors are excellent New rear seat belts Gas gauge, Oil pressure gauge, and Temp gauge all work. Voltmeter and clock do not work. Have never troubleshot neither. None of the clocks work unless they are replaced from what I have been told. Dash is in good shape; bezels are not tarnished, and everything has a nice sheen. Glove box area is perfect with no dings or scratches. Has the nice center console, with the seatbelt stow away pockets, and center T-handle shifter. After market Sun tachometer, tastefully mounted on steering column; can easily be removed if not wanted. WHAT DOES NOT WORK Heater motor does not work. I have never messed with it. All is there though. I have not worried about it since I drive it when it is not crazy cold out. I have driven it when it is 30 degrees out, and has not been an issue. The horn button is currently unhooked. Horn needs a new contact assembly for the steering wheel center button. Scott Drake sells this kit, just have not gotten around to ordering and installing. Voltmeter and Clock do not work, as previously mentioned. Speedometer works great, however it reads 10 mph under. I have never taken the time to put the correct nylon speedo gear in the transmission, which is a simple driveway fix. When the previous owner changed the rear end to 3:55 he did not do this; for me has not big a big concern. Contact: 913-486-0249 |
