Description of 1949 Ford Other |
Runs and drives, but needs TLC. Has a flathead V8 with 3 speed overdrive. Transmission shifts good. Don't know about the overdrive as the cable is stuck. The clutch slips a little if you floor it in 3rd gear. I have only driven the car a few miles, It could be glazed from sitting for so many years. the motor starts and runs good. Good oil pressure, and doesn't overheat. There is a set of wheel pants that go with it. Also there are two new wide whitewalls in the trunk. The lock works for the trunk and the spring loaded cover where the key goes is still on it and works well. this is something you seldom see on these old Fords as most broke in the first couple years..A lot of dings, dents, scratches etc. Patina, yeah that's it Patina. Seriously, though the car has very little rust, and none that has eaten through the surface. The doors all open and close soundly. Again, rare on these old Fords. The interior is all original and the cloth has faded etc. The headliner is good yet. Recent work done to the car are a new radiator. New gas tank. New water pumps and hoses. New battery. New points distributor cap rotor condenserr and plug wires I replaced the drivers side front wheel cylinder as that brake was stuck. Have new cylinders for the other three wheels. The brakes work as they are, but need adjusting as it pulls to one side when you apply them.. The tires on the car are junk. Severely weather checked.. Also the voltage regulator points to the generator stick and will run the battery down. The generator works as it will show charging amps. I unhooked the wire at the regulator to keep from running the battery down. I hook it up every so often to charge the battery.
I'm listing this without a reserve, which I think is a bunch of crap. Who wants to bid on something not knowing if there bid is good or not. I'm starting at $1,750. If you bid that and no one else bids that what you will get it for. I will need $500 via Pay Pal within 24 hours of the sale to secure the deal. Balance when or before car is picked up. I can drive it onto a transporter. They will charge you more if they have to winch them on. I can keep the car for a couple weeks if it helps you out. |
