It is loaded with custom old school features that you really rarely see nowadays. In addition to performing well it has a nostalgic style that is so hard to replicate. The Kilbourne 1932 Hiboy Roadster body is very straight and painted in a combination of White and Plum Crazy. Many would recognize the paint scheme from the classic SoCal car that graced the covers of the 1st ever issued Hotrod Magazine. We love flames and scallops but it is really cool to see that vintage look again. The Plum steadily declines towards the frame rail and wraps around the rear before spiking back up again onto the rear deck. It is all accented with custom Pinstriping that has been done in a Forrest Green type color and freehand custom work can also be found on the nose. rear. headlights. and even on the 32 Ford frame rails. A cowl vent is in place that is functional and raises/lowers properly. The side panels have been customized with 33 Chevrolet vents and create a very cool look. The King Bee headlights w/running light were painted to match the car and sit just behind the bullet turn signals. 1937 Ford taillights are in place in rear and were also painted Plum to match the car. Chrome spreader bars are found up front and in back by the painted to match gas tank. The front windshield glass is in good condition and utilizes all chrome mounts which fasten into the custom removable top. The car sits on a set of SoCal knock off wheels which are true knock offs and not just covers like you see on a lot of cars. Another great feature is the new folding canvas top that allows you to run as a roadster. but if you want to get the sun off of your head. all you have to do is pull over and put it up. The motor in the car is just as nostalgic as the rest. New age car builders may not recognize the Beehive oil filter but small features like that are what will really catch an old hot rodders eye. The 276 Flathead was built by Bud Lee who is known for his quality engine work. It is fitted with Offenhauser heads and an Offenhauser 2-2 barrel intake. Electric fans were added to keep it always running cool and with the open hood it never has heating issues. It has a great sound using ceramic coated headers into 30 Smitty mufflers and dual megaphone tips routed out of the rear. The 3 speed manual transmission is out of a 42 Ford and shifts smoothly. It sends power back to the Halibrand Quick Change rear end that is set up with the perfect gearing to easily run 70mph at only 2200rpms. Being a Hiboy the front end is all exposed so it was very cleanly done using a 4 drop and cross drilled axle and multiple other polished/chrome components. The rear suspension utilizes a multi leaf spring system taken from a Model A. Disc brakes are in place up front with drums found in the rear. The interior is finished out in a two tone Plum and White to match the exterior paint. It is extremely clean and has a fresh look. Even the carpet was custom done with white edges. The bench seat is comfortable and uses a roll pleat style of upholstery that looks great. The dash is painted plum and has a look that is taken from an Auburn. The engine turned bezels frame the Black Stewart Warner gauges nicely and all of the electrical is working properly with no issues. The tilt column is painted Black and is topped off with a polished after market steering wheel. To the floor is mounted both an emergency brake and the shifter. The handle was formed to have that custom tall look while still being easily within reach of the driver. It utilizes a custom Gas mask shifter knob that looks great. The trunk of the car is finished out in the same style as the interior and is where you will find the red top Optima battery hidden away in a custom made wood grain box. There is no doubt that there are a lot of 32 Fords out there but you will have a tough time finding one with all of the unique features this car has. It was built with a style that you just dont see anymore. It does well at shows and always gets respect from the true hot rodders in the crowd.
