1966 Ford Galaxie 500XL. Car began as a complete and rust-free vehicle showing 48,000 plus miles, odometer now reads 53,710 miles. It was completely disassembled and all body panels, frame, a-frames, radiator support, inner fenders, etc. were media blasted. The frame is coated with POR-15 and the straight rust-free body had its color changed from maroon to PPG black and clearcoat. The underbody is also painted black and clearcoated. The chassis was reassembled with all new body insulators, bushings, bearings, seals, drum brakes and hardware, power dual bowl master cylinder, Koni shocks on the front, Gabriel Hijackers on the rear, and new coil springs. New oversize Addco sway bars front and rear, new gas tank, and stainless steel brake and fuel lines. Rear differential is a 28 spline open type with 3.00 to 1 gears. I have a Detroit Locker and a new set of Richmond 4.11 gears that go with the car. Wheels are 15x8 reversed Cragar SS with BFG radial TA tires. The body has both a replica Thunderbolt fiberglass hood and a stock hood. Both were painted at the same time as the car so the paint would match. Exterior door handles, taillight bezels, taillight lenses, parking light lenses, and assorted body and trim gaskets are new, NOS, or NORS. All stainless and aluminum trim has been polished. Bumpers, grille, and misc chrome has been replated. Car has a new windshield and weatherstripping. The trunk has been detailed with splatter paint and a new mat. The interior has new carpet and mats, new headliner, and the dashpad was redone by "Just Dashes". The main dash bezel and the armrest bezels have been replated. It has the rare AM/FM radio with front and rear speakers. The bucket seats need new seat buns and the bottom portion of the driver's seat needs reupholstered. I just haven't found someone I feel comfortable with to have it done. The rest of the interior is original. The transmission is the original C6 that has been rebuilt and has a 2800 rpm stall converter. The engine is the original 390 with a .030 overbore. It has TRW forged pistons, Sealed Power moly rings, and Clevite 77 bearings. The crank has been turned .010 on the mains and rods. Full floating rods have been resized and ARP bolts added. The whole assembly has been balanced. Fel-Pro high performance gaskets are used throughout. It has a Melling oil pump, Cloyes roller timing set, Edelbrock fuel pump, Edelbrock Performer RPM camshaft & lifters, Harlan Sharpe roller rockers and shafts with ARP studs, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads with ARP bolts, and a polished Edelbrock Performer RPM intake manifold topped off with a 750 cfm Demon carb with vacuum secondaries and electric choke. It has finned aluminum "Cobra LeMans" logo valve covers. Hooker Super Competition ceramic coated headers dump into a stock exhaust with Cherry Bomb mufflers. The distributor is a stock Ford unit with an Accel electronic conversion kit and an MSD coil. Spark Plug wires are from Ford Racing. It has a Flow Kooler water pump. A 2-stage NOS system finishes it off. Engine was assembled with an ARP polished stainless steel bolt set. The alternator is a 100 amp by TuffStuff. I have both a recored stock radiator and fan, and a Griffin aluminum radiator with electric fan that go with the car. Griffin is installed now. The car is excellent. It was invited to participate at the 2016 Ford Nationals in Carlisle, PA representing Ford Galaxies of 1966. I have the original parts that go with the car with the exceptions of the original steel wheels and the A/C compressor.
