I bought this for a restoration and truck-rod project, but I am refocusing my free time toward other things for the foreseeable future. Instead of it sitting at the shop, I decided to let someone else build their next hot rod truck with it. The thing that makes this truck unique is that it was ordered from Ford by the military. From what I found in my research, a lot of the trucks on bases at that time were converted civilian trucks. This truck has an original military VIN. My plan for this truck was to pay homage to the military (8 years in the Marine Corps for me) and build this as a solid utility-focused daily driver. The patina on this truck is amazing and was the main reason I bought this particular truck. A good scrubbing and matte clear coat, and it's preserved forever. The history in this truck is very strong. It even has the original keychain probably produced by the Motor-T department on base. It has the inline 6 in it and a three speed manual transmission. It does run well and does drive, but you have to be brave. It could definitely be put to use w/o a full build, but it probably needs some attention to the front end and a good set of tires. I was going to replace the entire front suspension with the suspension from a Crown Vic. It's a cheap swap and gets you good suspension, power steering, good brakes, etc. I also have a spare inline-6 block that goes with it which I considered using to build a retro-turbo engine. The wheels are 8-lug. I doubt the mileage shown on the odometer (22633) is not the actual mileage. There should probably be a 1 in front of that, but I don't have any way to verify that. It is a running and driving truck, but the tires are shot and there is decent play in the steering. You should plan on trailering it home if traveling past the end of the driveway.
