Description of 1951 Ford Victoria |
History This 1951 Ford Victoria hardtop was purchased in 2001 by the current seller, who has restored this beauty into the magnificent vehicle that it is today. The odometer shows 87,500 miles and documentation will reflect that this is likely correct. It is a rust free, mechanically excellent classic that has been meticulously groomed. This car will be sold with a clean Washington State title. It comes with auto records/registration dating back to 1980. Mechanical In 1995-96 this vehicle was fitted with a period correct V-8 flathead that was professionally "enhanced" by Motor Machine Inc. in Auburn WA. It was short blocked with a mild cam, hardened valve seats, bored 30 over (for top performance with unleaded gas), aluminum pistons, and aluminum Canadian heads (rare), with an Offenhauser 4 BBL carburetor w/390 cfi. The engine also features a chrome "dress-up" kit which augments the engine platform. The Victoria comes with a 3-speed manual overdrive (column shift) transmission, standard rear transaxle, and hydraulic drum brakes with a period correct 6-Volt positive ground electrical system. The Victoria starts upon contact and drives extremely well for this production. The clutch synchronization is smooth and has little vibration upon contact. Clutch was likely replaced but no documentation can be found at this time. Interior In 2014, the interior was refurbished with new carpet, front and back seats (cloth/vinyl), interior moldings and door panels. The headliner was detailed and is in excellent condition. The newly painted dashboard features all original gauges, knobs and with proper wiring. Oil/amp meter/wipers/speedometer, all lighting clusters, and turn signals work properly. The original radio (humming) and gas gauge are not currently functioning. Electrical components have in-line fuses. Exterior In 2005, the entire exterior of the Victoria was professional painted with a two-stage base coat/clear coat paint. The Victoria is tastefully styled with a VW Passat green with a handsomely contrasting silver roof. All interior colors coordinate seamlessly with the exterior coat to give the vehicle an exquisite transition. The vehicle has been driven 3000 cautious miles since the paint application. The prep-work was meticulously done prior to paint application and is evident when viewing the panels of this vehicle. Careful inspection reflects no visible dents, dings, and no imperfections in the paint. Chrome/Stainless Trim The chrome of this Victoria is in exceptional shape. After the exterior paint was completed, side and back chrome trim pieces were newly replaced. The back bumper was re-plated, while the front grille and bumper were not refurbished due to their above grade condition. The wheels have all new hub and beauty rings packaged with Cooker wide-white tires. The aluminized dual exhaust system features chrome tips. The front right bumper has a small indentation that is noticeable, but stress marks are not evident. All windows in the Victoria are surrounded with stainless steel that has no pitting. However, some of the stainless show some signs of minor imperfections due to years of over handling/removing/replacing. The door handles do have some minor pitting, but the chrome is otherwise in good shape. The front hood spacing is good, however, the truck lid needs some manipulating to get the spacing corrected (usually this takes multiple sets of hands)! Suspension The suspension is stock and unmodified - so it will ride like it was intended. Seller suggests that shocks should eventually be replaced. Glass The front windshield has been replaced and there is no evidence of cracks or pitting. All other glass is original and in great condition.
