This 1934 Ford Roadster is the result of a ground-up custom build that brought classic style together with contemporary engineering and handcrafted luxury. The project began with a new powder-coated frame topped with a Downs 1934 body and Rootlieb louvered steel hood. The custom Ford roadster has proven itself with more than 3,500 miles on the road since it was completed, and it waits for its next driver to show lesser automobiles the blue-dot prism tail lights. Electronic-port fuel injection helps the 350 CI small-block Chevrolet V-8 send power through the 4-speed 700R4 automatic transmission with Lokar shifter out to the 9-inch Ford rear axle with 3.73:1-ratio gears. The engine is dressed with a body-color-matched intake plenum, polished aluminum components and custom-fabricated aluminum radiator with electric fan for cool running. Coated exhaust headers and Turbo mufflers deliver mellow cruising tones with full-strength V-8 sound a wide-open throttle away. Power disc brakes and upgraded coilover suspension work with rack-and-pinion steering for contemporary road control. A maroon two-stage base/clear-coat paint with tan striping is accented by period-style chrome from the Greyhound hood ornament and grille to cowl-mount turn-signal lamps and low-mount bumpers. Stowing the tan folding top reveals a custom interior with Ultraleather seat, side panels and trunk. A Banjo-style billet-aluminum and wood-rim steering wheel sits on a tilt column over an engine-turned instrument panel and glovebox. Pushing the Ford V-8 logo horn button sounds off dual spartan horns. The reimagined 1934 Ford rolls on painted wire wheels and Silvertown tires dressed with V-8-logo hubcaps and trim rings.
