Description of 1940 Ford Other |
This is a very rare opportunity to own a very early Southern California built car with documented history. *Up for sale is the 1940 Ford "Bob Creasman Coupe ". This car was built in Los Angles California at the Brand Brothers Shop by Bob Creasman in 1943. Thought to be one of the first 1940 Fords chopped & channeled in So Cal. This car was done in the very early stages of customizing cars. before Barris and other shops were in business. This coupe went through some extremely radical customizing in 1943 only a few years after the car was purchased new from the dealership. *The coupe appeared in the 1944 Dan Post - Custom Restyling Book. *In 1948 Bob was at it again & added the famous fadeway fenders that give this car such an amazing look. *In 1949 The car was clocked @ 105 mph at a Dry Lakes event. *In 1953 & 1954 it was featured in a Hop Up magazine article & car contest which also include the famous Hirohata Mercury. The coupe was considered an old custom in 1953! *The coupe was later featured in the 1994 Don Montgomery book " Authentic Hotrods". *The car was re discovered in 1996 after 40 years of hiding under a tarp in a field in San Fernando California. The Bruns City Custom Shop began the restoration in 1997 and completed it in 1999. *The car was then sold and repainted by George Barris in the mid 2000's just in time for an invitation on the grass to The 2006 Concourse De Elegance ( Pre War Custom Class) in Pebble Beach California. *The coupe was featured in The Rodder's Journal coverage of the event. *I just showed the car at the Grand National Roadster Show in Pomona Ca. *It was an invited guest to the 75 th anniversary exhibit of the 1940 Ford. That is the documented history I have on the car. I do have all the books. magazines and photos & they will be passed on to the new owner. I bought the car last summer and had an extensive mechanical overhaul done to it at Circle City Hot Rods in Orange California. The Flathead V8 motor was rebuilt prior to me purchasing the car. Here is the list of what I had done : New motor & trans mounts. ebuilt transmission. nbsp;re surfaced flywheel. new clutch. lates & throwout bearing. new headers & complete exhaust. nbsp;set the timing on the super rare Harmom & Collins dual coil distributor. nbsp;added a Navarro dual intake to match original Navarro heads. rebuilt the Stromberg 97 carbs. built new linkage & added vintage air scoops. nbsp;cleaned up wiring. added fuse block. nbsp;new regulator. moved battery to trunk. cables ect. nbsp;new fuel pump. starter & bendix . nbsp;tune up. oil change ect. nbsp;fixed rear end . new rear shocks. brakes ect. Replaced hardware . re wired tail lights & license plate light ( original early California YOM plates) . Just re chromed the grille & had the car completely buffed out & detailed. The car has new Firestone WWW. nbsp;very rare original Flipper hub caps. chromed dash & garnish moldings and a very desirable Crestliner steering wheel. I am probably forgetting a lot more but you get the idea. This car runs and drives great. It does not over heat. shifts & stops perfectly and for being a custom built in 1943 rides really nice. These early Pre War Custom cars just don't exist and if they do are simply not for sale. The car has a current registration. California Title and YOM License plates. I have a box of misc parts that go with the car. I do not have the skirts! Please ask questions before bidding and if you want to see the car please set up an appointment before you bid. *The car is for sale locally and I will remove from the auction anytime for a local purchase $$ or a Buy It Now. so if you are interested don't wait until he end!! If you want to make an offer I am open to that too. I would also entertain talks on a trade plus cash. I am always looking for Vintage Motorcycles so if you have something of value you want to package together please let me know. *** I will be adding more pictures tomorrow so please check back for details shots of all areas. Good Luck !! On Feb-08-15 at 11:28:44 PST. seller added the following information:** I have added a few more pictures but I have used up the 24 EBAY allows so can't post all the body pics I just took in the sunlight. I have a lot more of all the areas. trunk . interior ect and if you need something specific please let me know. ** Also please note before bidding this is an old early custom car not a modern build with modern accessories. There are scratches . icks . small bruises and imperfections on the paint and all over the car. The car is a driver & a old custom not a freshly restored show car. The oil pressure & temp gauge work the rest will need to be addressed. The windows do roll up and down just fine. glass is good and the doors open and shut nicely. There is no hood pull or trunk latch and the wipers are not working. The historical value $$ of this car completely out weighs some of the minor things that need to be addressed if desired. If you have any other questions or concerns please hit me with them. I will fully disclose anything I am aware of and want the buyer to be completely satisfied with the purchase. This is a special car and needs to be with someone who understands the historical significance and appreciates it. Thank You |
