Description of 1993 Ford Mustang LX |
I've owned and loved this Mustang for about 10 years, 3rd adult owner. This car has never been abused, although driven spiritedly from time to time. You won't see many 5.0 LX convertibles on the road these days, especially this nice. It sits in my garage under a cover and I take it out about once a month, and love driving it. This is one I really don't want to sell but I'm asking a fair price so someone else can enjoy it. I wish I had room to build a bigger garage for all my cars, but my wife says something must go and this one drew the short straw. It has a clear CA title in my name, passed smog in September and every time before that. Will smog for CA buyer. Body: No rust anywhere, ever. The car still has the original white top, in great condition, fully operational. The 12 year old base/clear repaint was professionally done, is glossy and only has a couple small flaws (hood pic has raindrops on it). I replaced the oxidized headlights and marker lights with new ones from LMR Mustang supply. Added Sylvania Silverstar bulbs for better lighting. It's running 17" Cobra wheels with new 245/45R17 Falken tires. Underneath it has welded frame stiffeners. Interior: Everything is in great shape. I replaced the windshield due to small chips that annoyed me in late afternoon sun. I replaced the white leather seat covers because the old ones were starting to look aged and the driver's seat had a couple small cracks. It has always had the Mustang logo mats to cover the carpet. The original stereo was replaced with an Alpine unit with cassette and a 6 CD changer in the trunk. The top has a dust cover for driving with the top down and a vinyl bag to put it in. The trunk still has the cargo net to secure things from rolling around. Viper car alarm system is installed. Driveline: A B&M shift kit and fresh ATF and filter are in the AOD transmission. An aluminum driveshaft drives the 3.73/1 limited slip rear diff, with new rear axles, axle bearings and fluid. Slotted front rotors and new brake pads do the stopping. Suspension: Tokiko shocks and BBK lowering springs, with Maximum Motorsports adjustable shock towers. I Installed a new steering rack recently, along with Maximum Motorsports upper and lower rear control arm kits. Engine: I was replacing a leaking water pump, and while removing it, broke a bolt off in the block, so I pulled the engine and rebuilt it. It now has about 2000 miles on it. New rings, bearings (both original size), cylinders honed, gaskets and seals. I upgraded to a GT-40 ported intake, port matched to ProComp 190cc high flow aluminum heads, with Harland Sharp aluminum roller rockers, new pushrods, ARP head bolt kit. A BBK cold air intake with K&N filter and BBK 70mm MAF, and 70mm throttle body let it breathe easier and a Comp Cams Extreme Energy XR265 cam really brings the engine to life. BBK shorty ceramic coated headers pull the exhaust to Magnaflow 2-1/2" X-flow catalytic converters (50 state legal) and Ultra Flow mufflers. Spark is controlled by a Jacobs High Energy ignition box and Ultra coil. Spark plugs have clocking washers to put the open side of the plugs toward the intake valves. New motor mounts and trans mounts hold it all in. The intake manifold and valve covers are powder coated silver. It has March underdrive pulleys and a 125 amp alternator. I haven't dyno'd it, but it originally came with 225HP, and I would calculate it now at around 290-300 on 87 octane. Also in the engine bay is an aluminum 3 row radiator by Champion, with a thermostatically controlled electric fan, and a complete new R134a A/C system. Overall: There are few nicer Fox Body Mustangs out there, and most are either low mileage original and very high priced, or have been driven hard and turned into race cars. I'm a mechanical engineer and have been building cars for over 40 years. The value of this car is only going up with time as it becomes another classic muscle car. This example is a nice combination of good looks, fun driver, and dependability that makes it well worth the reserve. Wish I wasn't selling, but I hope the buyer enjoys it as much as I have. |
