Description of 1988 Ford F-250 XL |
This truck is pretty at a distance. but up close you can tell it has the normal rusty Michigan body. I flew into a Ford dealership a year ago to pick this truck up at the dealership and drove it home. They said it was a one owner truck that has always been local. The original owner traded it in on a new F250 a week prior to me picking it up. It has it's share of rust. It starts up. pulls strong. has been very dependable when I needed it to move it or tow something on the farm. I bought this truck a year ago intending to use the ZF5 manual setup to convert my 85 F350 Crew Cab since I couldn't find the right donor truck to use a factor Borg Warner. I intended on starting this project this Spring. but while in North Carolina last weekend for work I ran across a perfect 84 F250 Diesel parts truck to use with my conversion. This will allow me to keep the factory-available Borg Warner 4 speed instead of having to convert to the less durable ZF5. This truck has new rear tires and the front tires are about 50%. It has a new battery. Good heater. cruise control. Shift out fine. Just an old work truck. Needs new door latch kits. Can be driven. or if you need the perfect diesel running gear everything works as it should. Strong running worker. On Feb-15-15 at 22:14:41 PST. seller added the following information:A lot of people have been asking if it will start below freezing. Tonight I had to put two new Semi batteries in my Class A Motorhome. It still required a jump after I installed the batteries . So I went out and hit the key on the F250 and it fired right up. I then hooked up two sets of jumper cables to my motorhome and it boosted it as well. After which I went to the back of the farm and loaded up two ricks of wood and brought it to the house. It was 18° degrees at 8:00. After loading the wood i hit the key and it fired back up. People are asking about how the doors shut. As with a typical Michigan 4x4 it will need the door latch kit for both doors plus the pin and bushing kit because they are dragging. The door latch kits are $94 a side at Ford. Pin & bushing kits are $4. 95. It will need rockers. floor pans. door skits. etc. if someone were to restore it. as is typical for Northern trucks. Most people in this auction. however . are probably like me. looking for a good donor truck with a strong engine. tranny. running gear. etc. It is a very stout old truck with lots of power. Thanks for bidding and keep the questions coming. |
