Description of 1969 Ford Mustang |
This is a 69 Mustang Convertible. It has been completely restored. First it was jigged up and all rust cut out and new metal welded in. This included new inner rockers, new front torque boxes, new upper rear torque boxes, new full quarters, new trunk drops, new tail light panel and trunk floor crossmember, and new floor pans, all by Dynacorn. It was then installed into a rotisserie, all welds ground and readied for primer. Underside and engine compartment were Painted with SPI epoxy primer. Doors were patched in the outside lower corners only, front fenders needed very small patches in bottom corners only. Deck lid and hood were only dented slightly, no patches needed. The car was then completely stripped to bare metal, primed with epoxy primer then 2K primer. It was then blocked off with 600 and painted two coats of basecoat and 3 coats of clear, cut with 2000 and buffed. All mechanicals were completely redone. Every bearing, every seal, every gasket was replaced. The engine, a 302 V8 was bored .030 over, new pistons, bearings, crank was turned .010/.010, new cam, lifters, complete valve job with new seats and new valves, new springs and retainers. C4 transmission was replaced with a completely rebuilt AOD overdrive from a 1989 Mustang GT which included upgrades from a 4R70W including the larger band and drum plus the larger clutch packs and a new custom valve body by Silver Fox Performance Transmissions. A new custom driveshaft was installed. Rear 8” axle was rebuilt with all new bearings and a new 3.40 ring and pinion, new axle bearings and seals. New rear brake shoes and wheel cylinders, new front disc calipers, pads, all new brake lines and fuel lines including hoses, all new front suspension components. Exhaust was customized to fit around the AOD and wrapped with heat shield. New U.S. made rear leaf springs and front coils. Towers were redrilled to the Shelby Drop specs and upper controls arms relocated. A Flaming River Rack and Pinion steering setup with power and their tilt wheel was installed and functions well. An upgraded A/C compressor and condenser system was installed along with a new heavy duty aluminum radiator. The convertible top framework was completely disassembled, painted, reassembled with new bushings and pins, new hydraulic cylinders, rebuilt pump, and a new correct top with glass rear window. All new interior upholstery including seat foams, new door panels, new dash bezels with new lenses. It also has the rare intermittent wipers. Everything on this car works. Seat platforms were reconfigured to allow them to be moved back 1” and dropped 1” for more leg room and headroom. The entire interior is soundproofed including the floor, under dash, inside doors and rear quarters and behind the rear seat. Power windows from a 69 Cougar were refitted and work perfectly. A quartz movement was added to the clock and it keeps perfect time. Factory optional underhood and undertrunk lights were installed as well. I built this car to drive with confidence anywhere or any distance. After driving it roughly 400 miles locally to insure everything was working well, we took off on a vacation trip that took us 4711 miles across the country from Saint Louis, to Denver, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, back to Lake Tahoo, Denver, and then Saint Louis with absolutely no problems. We drove 70 mph in a pouring rain and not one leak anywhere. There is nothing on this car that has not been redone. It handles perfectly, can be driven anywhere with complete confidence. I have near 300 pictures of the restoration from the moment I brought it home all the way through every stage. I’ve started on my next project so I’d like to see someone buy this car that can appreciate all the hard work that’s been done to it. I’d be happy to show it to anyone including any professional you may wish to have check it out before committing to buy. Any shipping should be handled by the buyer at buyers expense, or fly in and drive it home. The car is being sold as is where is with no warranties expressed or implied. Please ask any questions you may have, I’ll do my best to answer them asap. You won’t find a better example of a 69 convertible for the money. It needs to be noted that the mileage is only what the speedometer reads. I have no real way of knowing the actual mileage but everything on this car has been redone or replaced. The mileage reading when it was completed, inspected and licensed was 56251 in July of 2017.This car is being sold as is, where is with no warranty expressed or implied. I only sell to buyers with a legitimate contact or connection within the 48 contiguous United States. A non refundable deposit of $1000 is required immediately upon purchase via Paypal.
