RIGHT NOW!! DRIVE IT TO LOCAL CAR SHOWS… AND WIN!! JUMP IN… FASTEN UP and DRIVE IT ACROSS COUNTRY!! That’s right… this is a one-off complete and very exacting clone of a 1965 GT350 “R” including everything you need to go racing. Today a #1-#2 Condition Real “R” will fetch between $850K - $1M. Here’s an opportunity to own nearly the exact same car for less than 1/10th the price. Take it racing or nice enough to show at any type of car event or simply enjoy driving it on the street. This Shelby Clone does it all .. and is simply as nice as it gets. This is a turnkey example of the venerable GT350 “R”acer from the factory. Starting its life as a real “A” Code Mustang Fastback in Southern CA back in 1965, this cool classic has been transformed into the top dog Shelby GT350 “R”. The comprehensive restoration took place from 2010-2013 and is still fresh with just 6877 miles logged since. Note: The car started its racing life in 1990 by the second owner. The engine was built to “K” Code Shelby specs plus a little (308ci). Dyno sheet shows approximately 300hp/300 torque at the rear wheels. The car comes with two sets of Torque Thrust D wheels - one for race setup the other for street. The car is licensed and totally street legal. Runs and drives wonderfully on the street. I am helping a good friend sell this little gem. He is the consummate car “freak” in my book. He knows this car inside, outside and upside down. He is an engineer by education, a former Army Ranger and Ironman Triathlete by discipline who obsesses over every aspect of the care, maintenance and setup of this fabulous machine. I took some of my pictures of the car in his shop to give you an idea of what kind of guy we are talking about here. This car was one of his dream cars to build and race and to say he “goes with the car” means he will be happy to be a resource on this car in the future. He’s a really great guy and the type of person you want to buy this type of collectable racer from. Please take the time to read through this list of specs so that you can understand just exactly what has been done to transform this car into an “exact” replica of the original “R”. This is not just some fastback with a Shelby steering wheel, a stripe kit and a hood scoop. This is as close to the real deal as you will every come without the million dollar price tag. The final price of the car will include: ENGINE: 5800 rpm shift light (have original Mallory dual point distributor in box). 11. 700 cfm Holly 4150 double pumper carb. (have original Shelby 715 cfm Holly in box). 12. Newly installed Holly Mighty Mite electric fuel pump. 13. Aluminum Radiator. 14. #381358 ISKY Cam with .320 lift. 15. Forged TRW pistons. 16. Stainless valves (Ferrera) 1.9 intake, 1.6 exhaust. 17. Lakewood Shatter proof bell housing. 18. 22 gallon fuel cell foam filled (Fuel Safe). 19. 10# full fire suppression system (engine, cockpit and trunk). FRONT SUSPENSION & BRAKES: REAR SUSPENSION & BRAKES: TRANSMISSION: DIFFERENTIAL: BODY & PAINT: The body is near pristine condition and appears to have never been disturbed in any way throughout its life. Take a look at the shut-line closeup pictures and you will notice just how nice everything fits. The hood has a slight “smile” on the drivers side and is pretty typical of these lightweight fiberglas hoods. In 2010 the car was completely stripped and media blasted to the metal before new primer and paint was applied. The paint is smooth and deep with plenty of clearcoat. There are no dings, scratches or imperfections in the finish. The car has been continuously garaged since the restoration and has a fresh appearance. It has won its class at many show events in and around Phoenix metro area (including 2 for 2 Firsts in the last two weeks). All the decals are static-cling type and can be easily removed and reapplied if you prefer a decal-free look for the street. MECHANICAL: Mechanically the car has been maintained to absolute perfection. Records and logs of all work and maintenance is included in the pictures below. Please take the time to view the owner’s hand written notes from day one. The car drives, shifts and runs like a dream. It rolls down the road on a brand new set of B.F. Goodrich Radial T/A tires, straight as an arrow, with no shakes, rattles or imperfections anywhere in the handling or braking tendencies of this car. It is nearly impossible to describe this rare one-off Shelby GT350 racer/show car. Perfection is a naughty word to throw around when it comes to automotive anything. This vehicle exudes perfection; in design, in workmanship, appearance, performance, handling and ride quality. Perfection abounds in this rare build, you can See it, Feel it, Hear it and Smell it. Original Shelby “R” models as developed, started with a Shelby GT350 and received new suspension tuning, a modified 289 cubic-inch Ford V-8, an improved cooling system, fiberglass body panels and Plexiglass windows. The interior was gutted for racing, and a full roll cage was added to meet competition regulations. Just as a matter of reference I have been collecting and restoring collectable automobiles and motorcycles for the last 40 years and am a long-time friend of the owner. I am a member in good standing with the Porsche Club of America, the 356 Registry and NCRS (National Corvette Restorers Society) for over 25 years. I have been a Concour Judge at various venues around Southern CA. This is a stellar, turn-key automobile at the highest-level of restoration; in solid #2+ condition needing nothing and running perfectly. The car owner is a gentleman racer/collector in AZ that has been involved in the hobby for many years in Southern CA and AZ. This car was originally built in Southern California and has spent every minute of it’s restored life in CA or AZ. This Shelby GT350 “R” is the kind of master piece to be added to your collection if indeed you have a penchant for low mile race or show ready type of cars. You would be hard pressed to find a more solid, original and wonderful driving vehicle than this example in Wimbledon White with Guardsman Blue Stripes.
