Description of 1966 Ford Thunderbird |
1966 FORD Q CODE T-BIRD ULTRA RARE 428CI ENGINE 1 YEAR OWNER LOADED WITH TONS OF GOODIES ! CLEAN AND CLEAR NJ TITLE IN HAND IN MY NAME ! RUNNING AND DRIVING RESTORATION PROJECT. video of 428 starting right up https://youtu.be/YSCI2k_07Z4 See a video driving down the road https://youtu.be/Kit3rudh-Ug I AM A MUSTANG FAN BY NATURE BUT I COULD NOT PASS UP BUYING THIS T-BIRD AS SHE'S DEFINITELY WORTH BEING RESTORED. VERY HARD TO FIND ANYTHING THAT HAPPENS TO BE "ALL THERE" I KNOW VERY LITTLE ABOUT T-BIRDS AND WILL TRY TO DESCRIBE HER AS BEST AS I CAN. STARTING WITH A 428 V-8 WHICH RUNS SMOOTH SMOKES A LITTLEPROBABLY FROM SITTING FOR SUCH A LONG TIME. BUT SHE STARTS RIGHT UP WITH A KEY AND IS RUNNING OFF THE GAS TANK. INTERIOR IS CERTAINLY ALL THERE !!! AND LOOKS PRETTY DARN GOOD. PURCHASED FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER FROM NEW ! I HAVE A COPY OF THE ORIGINAL TITLE OWNER STATED SHE HAS THE ORIGINAL MOTOR AND HE RECENTLY ADDED A NEW EXHAUST SYSTEM AND NEW ALUMINUM RADIATOR. HE SAY'S HE SPENT $1,100 FOR ALL. FROM WHAT I CAN LOOK UP THAT'S ABOUT RIGHT. ORIGINAL OWNER (92 YRS OLD) CLAIMS HE WAS HAVING CAR RESTORED A LITTLE AT A TIME IN HIS GARAGE BUY SOME YOUNG GUYS. THEY GOT THE CAR TO WHERE YOU SEE IT NOW. SPEEDOMETERREADS 23,000mi I WOULD SAY MECHANICAL LIMITS SO REALLY 123,000miTRANSMISSION HAS A MODULATOR LEAK NOT A BIG DEAL CERTAINLY NOT AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. NEAT THINGS ABOUT THE CAR 428 MOTOR AUTO C-6 TRANS POWER WINDOWS AND IF I UNDERSTAND IT RIGHT POWER SIDE VENT WINDOWS ! FACTORY CRUISE CONTROL CONTROLS ARE IN THE STEERING WHEEL ! 8 TRACK TAPE DECK ! AIR CONDITIONING NOT ALL THERE SOME PARTS ARE IN THE TRUNK POWER STEERING POWER DISC BRAKES SWAY AWAY STEERING COLUMN (SOMETHING I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE) MARTI REPORTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE FOR 1966 HOWEVER MARTI CLAIM'S TO HAVE MANY OF THE INVOICES FOR 1966 T-BIRDS I HAVE ORDERED ONE TO SEE ALL OF THE OPTIONS ORDERED FOR THE CAR. HOPEFULLY THEY WILL HAVE THE INVOICE IF THEY DO I SHOULD HAVE A COPY OF THAT BEFORE AUCTION ENDS. FLOORS ARE NOT BAD AND DO NOT NEED TO BE REPLACED OR REPAIRED THIS CAR HAS SPENT MOST OF ITS LIFE IN A GARAGE.WORST OR UGLIESTPART THAT I COULD FIND ON THE CAR IS IN THE TRUNK THERE IS SOME RUST UP ABOVE THE GAS TANK RIGHT BEHIND THE SEAT IT'S KINDA HARD TO UNDERSTAND WHY IT WOULD RUST IN THAT SPOT. REGARDLESS IT'S NOT STRUCTURAL NOT FIND ABLEUNLESS YOU PULL THE TRUNK CARPETING OFF. IM MENTIONING THIS BECAUSE THE REST OF THE UNDERCARRIAGEIS AMAZINGLY CLEAN. VIN NUMBER HAS BEEN LOCATED IN 3 PLACES FRONT AREA BY HOOD LATCH IT WAS HARD TO READ WE CLEANED IT AND COLOREDIT SO IT WOULD SHOW UP IN THE PICTURES. VIN UP IN THE COWEL AREA BELOW THE WINDSHIELD AND THE VIN ON THE DOOR PLATE. ALL SHOWN IN THE PICTURES. MAKE NO MISTAKE ABOUT IT THIS IS NOT A PAINT AND GO. THIS IS A RESTORATION PROJECTI AM MAKING NO CLAIMS BEYOND THE FACT THAT SHE WILL RUN AND DRIVE AND STOP. SHE'S BEEN GARAGED FOR TOO LONG AND I REALLY DO NOT KNOW MUCH AT ALL ABOUT T-BIRDS IF IT DIDN'THAVE SO MANY OPTIONS AND SUCH A NICE INTERIOR I'D BE PULLING THE 428 ENGINE AND DROPPING IT INTO A 67 SHELBY GT-500 FOR SALE LOCALLY AND I'M ON THE FENCE ABOUT KEEPING THE ENGINE LOCATED IN NORTHERN NJ 25 MIN OUTSIDE OF NYC EMAIL ME TO COME SEE IT. CAR IS OFFERED LOCALLY AND I RESERVE THE RIGHT TO END THIS AUCTION EARLY SO BID EARLY ENOUGH TO KEEP HER ON THE AUCTION BLOCK. WILL WORK WITH SHIPPING AND FOR $200 EXTRA I CAN TOW THIS TO THE SHIPPING YARDS IN ELIZABETH NJ. BUT BUYER PAYS ALL SHIPPING FEES AND HANDLES ALL PAPERWORK. LAST CAR I SOLD WENT TO FRANCE I BELIEVE THE BUYER PAID 1200 FOR THE SHIPPING TO EUROPE. |
